Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

*Svitolina 1-2 Halep

SVITOLINA BREAKS BACK!

Bizarre. A very loose game by Halep, with three errors on the forehand, and Svitolina breaks TO LOVE!

In stark contrast to the previous two games, that game must've lasted about two minutes!

*Svitolina 1-2 Halep (30-40)

Svitolina volleys into the net and another BREAK POINT...

Svitolina 1-3 Halep*

HALEP BREAKS!

A poor way to lose her serve, as Svitolina hits a mediocre forehand into the net.

Four games, three breaks of serve. 28 minutes played.

*Svitolina 1-4 Halep

Halep holds to 15, with a much more solid service game.

Svitolina too passive at the moment - both players happy to rally, but a little bit more venom and purpose on Halep's shots.

Kieran Jackson11 July 2019 13:39

BIG VIRG!!!

Kieran Jackson11 July 2019 13:40

Svitolina 1-5 Halep*

HALEP BREAKS!

A break to love - Svitolina has completely lost her way here, seems a bit overawed by the occasion.

Halep, who has a solitary Grand Slam to her name, will serve for the first set!

Svitolina 1-5 Halep* (40-30)

Halep hits a backhand winner crosscourt, in a rally Svitolina looked to be dominating, and it's SET POINT...

Kieran Jackson11 July 2019 13:45

Svitolina 1-5 Halep* (40-40)

The set point is saved, and we go to deuce...

Kieran Jackson11 July 2019 13:46

Svitolina 1-5 Halep* (40-40)

Svitolina saves another set point as she hits the ball more aggressively on the forehand side.
