Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Day six of the Wimbledon Championships sees a whole host of big names in action with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Serena Williams all on court at SW19.

Fresh from his epic tussle with Nick Kyrgios, Nadal is back on Centre Court with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga his next foe before Federer continues his campaign against France's Lucas Pouille afterwards.

Britain's Harriet Dart takes on world No 1 Ashleigh Barty before that while 23-time Grand Slam champion Williams continues her march to what she hopes is yet another All England Club title against Julia Goerges on Court One.

Two-time champ Murray will also be in action as he returns for round two of the men's doubles alongside partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

Tsonga 2-6 Nadal

Another break for Nadal - and that’s the set! Another winner, this time on the backhand, fizzes beyond the Frenchman who tried in vain to chase it down. The Spaniard has been simply too good in his shot-making.

*Stephens 6-3 0-1 Konta

Big hold for Jo Konta who is on the ropes at the moment.

She comes back from 0-30 down to take the opening game, can that give her some momentum?

*Tsonga 2-6 0-1 Nadal

The second set continues in a similar vain to the first one: complete dominance from Nadal. The Spaniard quickly rushes to 40-0, with a lobbed attempt from Tsonga landing beyond the baseline to hand his opponent the game. On we go.

Tsonga 2-6 1-1 Nadal*

Back-to-back aces from Tsonga see him similarly hold to love. Exquisite stuff.

Samuel Lovett6 July 2019 15:19

*Stephens 6-3 1-2 Konta

A couple of overhit Konta groundstrokes and it's break point Stephens at advantage, but she can't return the ball in play as it hits the top of the net and trickles on her side.

Back at deuce, Konta is resillient and crucially holds serve.

She has to hang on in there at the moment does the British No.1.

*Tsonga 2-6 2-3 Nadal

More of the same from Nadal - crunching forehand strokes, endless running, fierce serves - who speeds through this game in the blink of an eye to hold. He's really on his A-game today. Hard to see the Frenchman, despite his best efforts, taking a game off him at this rate.

Samuel Lovett6 July 2019 15:30

*Tsonga 2-6 2-3 Nadal

Second break point for Nadal after Tsonga rushes to meet a drop shot from the Spaniard, only to send it wide of the tramlines.

Samuel Lovett6 July 2019 15:35

*Herbert/Murray 7-6(4) 4-6 1-4 Mektic/Skugor

Murray and Herbert are broken again, as a volley drifts wide off the Frenchman's racket.

Momentum fully with the Croats now, though Murray is pumped and irate after a disagreement over a challenge with Skugor. If there's one thing we've learnt over the years, some of Murray's best tennis can come during his 'hot-headed' moments...
