From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Andy Murray and Serena Williams: N.B. 5:30pm, likely to be on Centre Court or Court No.1.
*Djokovic 7-5 1-2 Hurkacz
Two comfortable holds, followed by an absolute monster of a point at 15-30...
Drop shots, volleys, both players twisting and turning, but Hurkacz maintains his composure to win the point and then the game.
*Djokovic 7-5 2-3 Hurkacz
Hurkacz more than holding his ground here, while Djokovic continues to look shaky and inconsistent.
Still, two holds, with both players making a little more leeway in the opponent's service games.
Halep 6-3 1-0 Azarenka
Halep has taken the first set against Azarenka in their clash over on Centre Court. Waging a war of attrition against her opponent, the Romanian has hit with consistency and purpose for much of the match so far. In contrast, and despite her encouraging start, Azarenka has struggled to find her rhythm. She's made a total of 21 unforced errors so far and looks to have lost her confidence.
*Djokovic 7-5 3-4 Hurkacz
A hold for Djokovic, but then trouble for Hurkacz early on...
Three break points saved, through some gutsy, aggressive tennis, and the Pole scrapes through the game with an ace out wide.
He edges ahead once more...
*Djokovic 7-5 4-5 Hurkacz
A hold apiece - fair play to Hurkacz here though, who is holding his own against the world number one, who has not been (by his own high standards) at the peak of his powers today.
Djokovic will serve to stay in the set...
*Djokovic 7-5 5-6 Hurkacz
Two quick holds from both players, and the Pole has guaranteed himself a tiebreak.
Djokovic will serve to stay in it once again...
Djokovic 7-5 6-6 Hurkacz*
WOW! From seemingly strolling to a tiebreak at 30-0, Hurkacz has SET POINT at 30-40 after a few Djokovic errors.
The first one is saved after a return drifts wide, but the Pole wins in spectacular style on deuce with a diving volley at the net!
A 2nd set point, but a 2nd Hurkacz error, this time on the forehand side mid-rally.
Then Djokovic double faults on game point! But eventually, the Serb escapes and crawls his way to a tiebreak.
Here we go, first to 7.
