Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Day five of the Wimbledon Championships promises to be another action-packed one as we edge closer and closer to the business end of the tournament.

Novak Djokovic is back in action with the defending champion taking on Hubert Hurkacz of Poland.

Meanwhile on the women's draw Simona Halep meets Victoria Azarenka in a mouth-watering encounter on Centre Court.

And to finish we'll also Andy Murray and Serena Williams team up for the first time with the blockbuster pair facing off against Andreas Mies Alexa Guarachi.

Good morning and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of day five at Wimbledon.

Andy Murray returned to SW19 for the first time on Thursday evening winning his first match in two years at the All England Club in the opening round of the men's doubles.

Today he returns to get his mixed doubles campaign underway with 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in what promises to be one of the highlights of the tournament.

Elsewhere Novak Djokovic continues his title defence against Hubert Hurkacz of Poland while big serving Kevin Anderson opens proceedings on Centre Court.

The star of the show may well be Cori Gauff, however, with the 15-year-old breakout star set for her show court debut against Slovenia's Polona Hercog.

We'll have all the latest for you throughout the day.
