From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Both are former winners at Flushing Meadows but the occasion is all the bigger for the Argentine, who is making his second only appearance in the US Open final – nine years on from that memorable win over Roger Federer.
Djokovic, as the reigning Wimbledon champion and a 13-time Grand Slam winner, heads into the match as the favourite but Del Potro holds all the qualities needed to pull off a surprise shock in this year’s final.

Djokovic* 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 3-1 Del Potro
Here we go! Djokovic is turning it up a notch and a stunning, low, cross-court forehand catches out Del Potro and puts his 0-30 up. Del Potro fights back and we go to deuce!
WOW! Some unbelievable defence from Djokovic there as he returns forehand after forehand and smash after smash to win the point and earn a break opportunity! And he takes it! huge moment in this third set and in this match!
Djokovic 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 3-2 Del Potro*
Del Potro is not giving up here! Two magnificent points he wins to get an opening in this game, both acknowledged by Djokovic, as well. He takes it to deuce and earns a break point for his efforts... and he gets it! This isn't over just yet and we're back on serve!
Djokovic* 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 3-3 Del Potro
He's looking confident again! Del Potro consolidates the break of serve in the previous game to pull level in this third set.
Djokovic 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 4-3 Del Potro*
Maybe it's Djokovic who is tiring now? He goes for a very, very casual volley that he should have put away and is punished by Del Potro, who has another opening here at 15-30. But Djokovic slams that window shut and holds!
Djokovic* 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 5-3 Del Potro
A double fault really sucks the momentum from Del Potro here and Djokovic has two break points... and he takes the first and will now serve for the US Open title!
NOVAK DJOKOVIC WINS THE US OPEN
Djokovic* 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 Del Potro
And he's done it! It was very tough at times, especially during that epic second set but Djokovic has come through it and is now tied with the great Pete Sampras on 14 major titles. Only Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer have more.
Djokovic is climbing into his family box as Del Potro, exhausted by his efforts, weeps into his towel. The two sides of sport there and then.
Djokovic will rise to world number three after this victory as we see his name go onto the board for the third time
Del Potro: "It's not easy to speak right now but I love you guys. I'm so happy to be playing the final against this magnificent idol. He is one of my friends on tour and I want to see him win titles. I'm happy for Novak but sad to lose. I never gave up during my wrist problems. I was trying to fix my injuries to be here and got here after nine years. The US Open is my favourite on tour."
