Ireland have beaten Argentina 53-7 in their international match in Dublin.

Ireland 53 (Josh van der Flier 2, Andrew Porter, Caelen Doris, Dan Sheehan, Cian Healy, Tadhg Beirne tries; Joey Carbery 6 conversions, 2 penalties).

Ireland 27-7 Argentina, 53 minutes

James Lowe opts not to counter-attack even with inviting space and a teammate on the left, instead kicking long, and Argentina reply in kind, finding touch inside the Ireland half.

Sheehan then makes a dent in midfield and Ireland begin to attack with tempo. Caelan Doris, who has been outstanding again this afternoon, draws three defenders and fizzes an offload to Tadhg Furlong lurking on the left wing. Furlong likes the sight of a diminutive back in front of him and sets about fending him through the floor, but in doing so just releases his grip on the ball and spills it.

Ireland 27-7 Argentina, 50 minutes

Argentina are beginning to fray at the edges. Ignacio Calles puts his shoulder into Joey Carbery as the Ireland fly-half chases a kick and gives the referee a guilty look as Matthew Carley spots it out of the corner of his eye.

Ireland kick down into Argentina territory and will make changes. Craig Casey and Harry Byrne are on and will unite in the half-backs, while Dan Sheehan’s first job is efficiently performed as he hits his lineout jumper.

PENALTY! IRELAND 27-7 Argentina (Joey Carbery penalty, 49 minutes)

Joey Carbery knocks over the penalty to add three more to Ireland’s score.

YELLOW CARD! Pablo Matera is sent to the sin bin! Ireland 24-7 Argentina, 48 minutes

It is! Pablo Matera had slapped the ball down as Caelan Doris had looked to flick the ball on to Conor Murray, who was all set to shimmy through quite a wide gap.

There’s just enough cover to prevent a penalty try but TMO Tom Foley and referee Matt Carley concur that Matera should be shown a yellow card. There are limited complaints from the back rower as Carley waves it in his vague direction.

Ireland 24-7 Argentina, 47 minutes

Off goes Ryan Baird! The young Leinsterman is quite the sight in the open field, like a basketball player leading a fast break with comically large strides and plenty of gas! He absolutely rampages away from the Argentina defensive line from the edge of his own 22 and ends up being pulled down inside the Argentina red area.

Ireland keep on going, sharp offloading handling, and that went forward from an Argentine hand! Is that deliberate?

Ireland 24-7 Argentina, 46 minutes

A total misthrow and Ireland charge away! Julian Montoya’s darts haven’t flown particularly well today and he again misses the mark as Argentina prepare to set a maul.

Another penalty against Ireland allows him another chance but this time he overthrows, and Ireland this time clear with more certainty.

Ireland 24-7 Argentina, 45 minutes

Lucio Cinti does outstandingly well to stay infield as Caelan Doris and Robert Baloucoune combine to try and drive the Olympic bronze medallist into touch, somehow contorting his long frame entirely in the field of play and allowing Argentina to continue on.

They play infield for two more phases before Ronan Kelleher’s hands flop beyond the ball as he tries to force a holding on penalty - rightly penalised and Argentina revisit that left corner.

Two changes for the visitors first: Gonzalo Bertranou is on at scrum-half and Ignacio Calles at loosehead.

Ireland 24-7 Argentina, 44 minutes

This will be another good attacking chance for Argentina, though - Ireland knock-on after the lineout and Tomas Cubelli will put into the scrum on the edge of the Ireland 22.

Ireland 24-7 Argentina, 43 minutes

Argentina spread the ball to width but it is all a bit all over the place with passes on the back shoulder meaning that Ireland are able to drift reasonably easily. Robert Baloucoune clings on to Lucio Cinti and his backwards place dribbles into touch.
