Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Box Office is out the back with Western Warrior joining him after a mistake at the third. Leave At Dawn remains back in the pack, but there's a long way to go.

A small error from Leave At Dawn at the fifth fence just hinders Barry Geraghty's progress. Flitham still leads, though he's being reeled in now and there's still six to jump.

Flintham is off again and takes Rolling Maul with him. If In Doubt is coming on strong, along with Join The Clan. Poor jump from Flintham with three to go.

Pertemps Handicap Hurdle*
1. Mall Dini (14/1)
2. Arpege D'alene (14/1)
3. If In Doubt (11/1)
4. Taglietelle (14/1)
*A stewards inquiry has been called due to the bump heading to the last fence when If In Doubt stubled, as well as some bumping heading to the line.
Pertemps Handicap HurdleIt's a complete turn of events for Davy Russell, as just 30 minutes after he was left on his rear-end following his dismount off Zabana in the opening race, he wins the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle on Mall Dini after a perfectly timed finish. After looking at the replays, we don't think the stewards inquiry will affect the winner, but we'll keep you updated.
