From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The final day of the Cheltenham Festival will see two major events take place as the headline race, the Gold Cup, pits 10 of the best chasers in the world against one another, while British Olympic hero Victoria Pendleton makes her Festival debut. Follow the latest action here.

Good news surrounding Wayne Hutchinson as he gets up to his feet, albeit gingerly, and walks off the track. He'll need to pass a doctor's medical if he's to ride Smad Place in the Gold Cup, but it's good to see him OK.

Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle

It's time for the penultimate race before the Gold Cup as we're minutes away from the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle. Shantou Village is the fancied favourite for this one, with Solstice Star a non-runner. Barters Hill and Long Dog - yet another Walsh/Mullins combo - are also in the running.

Right, the jockeys are ready and they're making their way down to the post. AP McCoy has gone for Shantou Village to win this one. We'll find out in 2m 7f time...

Barters Hill makes a clean break from the start to lead, with Up For Review alongside him.

Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle

It's still Barters Hill from Up For Review, with Atlantic Gold and Allysson Monterg also in the running. Long Dog is back in the pack on the inside alongside Fagan..Long Dog is out. He's hurt himself and throws Ruby Walsh to the ground!

Walsh is up and OK, but Long Dog is being held and looks to be hurt. Barters Hill still leads from Up For Review and Atlantic Gold. Shantou Village is back in the second half of the pack with six to jump.
