Who’s going to win Super Bowl 57? | You Ask the Questions

Patrick Mahomes proved why he is the NFL’s Most Valuable Player as he shrugged off an ankle injury to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a dramatic 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday to claim their second Super Bowl in four years.

Kansas City’s hopes of returning home with the Lombardi trophy looked bleak late in the opening half when Mahomes appeared to re-injure the right ankle that had been a major worry coming into the game.

Grimacing in pain after a tackle, Mahomes hobbled off the field and slammed his helmet to the turf as the Chiefs headed into halftime trailing 24-14.

But when the teams returned after the break a resilient Mahomes produced a heroic effort, tossing two fourth-quarter touchdowns and engineering a final drive to set up Harrison Butker’s 27-yard game-winning field goal with eight seconds to play.

Super Bowl 2023 - James Bradberry on that controversial late penalty

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry has admitted that he was correctly penalised for defensive holding after a controversial flag late in Super Bowl 57.

A final minute field goal from Harrison Butker sealed victory for the Kansas City Chiefs, with the Eagles pipped 38-35 in a thrilling contest.

With the scores level deep in the fourth quarter, Bradberry’s subtle tug on the jersey of Chiefs receiver Juju Smith-Schuster drew the throwing of a penalty flag, granting Kansas City a first down despite Patrick Mahomes’ pass falling incomplete.

The new set of downs allowed the Chiefs to run the clock down, setting up Butker for the go-ahead kick with eight seconds left.

While Bradberry appeared to only make minimal contact with Smith-Schuster, the Eagles cornerback conceded that he could have no complaints about the decision to throw the flag.

Super Bowl 2023 - Andy Reid hails MVP performance from Patrick Mahomes

Coach Andy Reid paid tribute to his quarterback Patrick Mahomes for pushing through the pain of an injury to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to their second Super Bowl victory in four years.

Mahomes was awarded his second Super Bowl MVP after his second-half comeback effort against the Philadelphia Eagles at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

“He’s the MVP. That’s all that needs to be said. MVP. And you saw it tonight,” Reid told reporters on the field immediately after the game.

Super Bowl 2023 - Shane Steichen set to finalise deal to become Colts head coach

It ended, ultimately, in defeat, but Philadephia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen capped an outstanding season with a strong Super Bowl showing, using Jalen Hurts’ dual-threat abilities intelligently.

News emerged yesterday that Steichen is now bound for Indianapolis - in an odd quirk, he follows another former Eagles offensive coordinator in Frank Reich as the Colts’ permanent head coach.

Super Bowl 2023 - Andy Reid builds his legacy with second Super Bowl win

A second Lombardi Trophy for Andy Reid, beating his former team to earn his 22nd postseason win. He now only trails Bill Belichick in that regard.

And fear not, Chiefs fans: Reid indicated post-game that he fancies coming back for more next season. “If they’ll have me, I’ll be back,” said the 64-year-old - and there is little doubt Kansas City will.

Super Bowl 2023 - Patrick Mahomes inspires Chiefs to glory

Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to Super Bowl glory after a stunning second-half comeback over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mahomes threw three touchdowns in an efficient passing display, including 182 yards from 21/27 attempts, as the Chiefs scored on every possession in the second half.

A 38-35 win ensured the heroic effort from Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was in vain, having rushed for three touchdowns, while adding one passing touchdown in the finest performance of his career.

It is the second title for Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid in a dominant four-year spell.

Mahomes who suffered a high-ankle sprain just weeks ago, appeared to endure a reoccurrence of the issue in the first half after a hit from TJ Edwards.

Super Bowl 2023 - NFL Game Pass breaks

NFL fans were left furious after Game Pass crashed during Super Bowl 57.

The league’s official streaming platform, which costs fans in the UK £150.99 per year, cut out as the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs battled it out for the Lombardi trophy.

One fan called the issue “embarrassing”, while another labelled it “comical”, with many left unable to watch the game in Glendale, Arizona.

Super Bowl 2023 - Mixed feelings for Kelce brothers

It really is a remarkable story - two brothers not only making it to the NFL but becoming among the very best at two very different positions. There was always going to be disappointment for one of Travis and Jason, and it was Kelce the younger comforting his elder brother after the Chiefs emerged on top.

“There’s nothing you can really say to a loved one in a situation like that,” the Chiefs tight end said after an extended embrace with brother Jason after the win. “You joke around all the time and say you want to beat your brother on the biggest stage, but it’s a weird feeling.

“There’s nothing I can say to him other than I love him and he played a hell of a year, a hell of a season.”

Super Bowl 2023 - ‘Slippery’ surface criticised

An unexpected storyline of Super Bowl LVII was a slippery State Farm Stadium surface, with players on both sides repeatedly struggling to keep their feet.

“It was like playing on a water park,” Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata said afterwards. ““I’m not a grass expert, but it was pretty slippery.”

Tight end Dallas Goedert and quarterback Jalen Hurts were among the Philadelphia players to change their cleats at half time in a bid for better traction, but as Mailata pointed out, the Chiefs had to deal with the issues too.

“If it’s rainy, windy, it comes down to who can handle the conditions the best,” Mailata continued.

“We built a great brotherhood and that started with [coach Nick] Sirianni ... our locker room is a very tight-knit group. I’m proud of the guys, man.”

Super Bowl 2023 - Travis Kelce full of praise for Andy Reid

A second Super Bowl for Patrick Mahomes and a second Super Bowl for Andy Reid, banishing the demons of his Philadelphia failings against an Eagles organisation he knows so well. It was an offensive play-calling masterclass from Reid, showing both his famous creativity and how he has developed over the last few seasons.

“For him going up against his old team, we wanted to get this so bad for him,” said Travis Kelce, who had 81 receiving yards and a touchdown, about his head coach.

“Ever since he’s been here in Kansas City, I’ve seen it firsthand, he’s poured his heart, his mind and his soul into this organisation and to this team and lead a group of men.”
