The 148th Open Championship returns to Northern Ireland for only the second time in the tournament’s grand history, 68 years after first visiting Portrush in 1951, and features a heavily-packed Irish contingent of Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke, Graeme McDowell and plenty others.
But a number of Americans arrive at the final major of the year heading the pecking order, with Brooks Koepka and Tiger Woods both hotly fancied after their recent form – the former unstoppable in majors over the last two years and latter claiming his 15th major at the Masters.
But there are plenty of other names in the mix from closer to home, with former world No 1 Justin Rose and in-form Englishman Matt Wallace among those to watch, while Jon Rahm is expected to challenge for his first major victory.

11th hole
Rory Sabbatini makes back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12 to move to 2-under with six to play.
18th hole
Molinari finishes his round with a par on the last. It's been a hard fought round for the defending champion.
The brollies come out as the rain appears again.
Fighting Francesco
His usually pinpoint iron to green play left Francesco down on a few holes in his round and the putter couldn't rescue him.
Two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey see Molinari post an opening 74. He goes into the clubhouse 3-over for the round, seven off the lead but in an okay position.
Scoring has been difficult all day with only Webb Simpson reaching 5-under during his round.
17th hole
Kevin Kisner set off to a flyer but the course reeled him back in. Back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17 sent him back into the red and well within touching distance of the lead.
1st hole
An eight-nine foot putt for par tests Tiger Wood on the first hole but he's up to it and from where he was, in the green side bunker, that's a really well saved par.
Miserable round ends for McIlroy
He started with a quadruple bogey and finished with a triple bogey. Five dropped shots in the last three holes effectively puts an end to Rory's challenge.
An 8-over par 79 at his home tournament is very disappointing but when it's not your day, it's not your day.
1st hole
John Rahm (evs) opens his account with a par. His birdie putt skirting the top edge of the hole.
8th hole
Jordan Speith drops back to (-1) with a double bogey on the eighth. This course punishes you if you go slightly off line at all.
15th hole
Callum Shinkwin (-2) sinks his fourth birdie of the round on 15. He now moves within two.
18th hole
Kevin Kisner (-1) finishes with a bogey on the 18th. An up and down round finishes under par so Kisner can be happy with that.
Fowler (-1) has a reverse round and a birdie finish puts him level with Kisner at 1-under.
2nd hole
Another par for Tiger Woods (evs) on the second. He hasn't looked good on either hole but Tiger's making pars. For him they'll feel like birdies.
Matt Wallace and Patrick Reed joining him with at level par.
10th hole
Louis Oosthuizen (-1) rolls a birdie putt gently towards the hole on the tenth, it turns at the last minute and finds the hole. Louis' into the red.
5th hole
JB Holmes isn't having a quiet time out there, a bogey and three birdies in the first five holes puts him right in contention at 2-under-par.
A rye smile from Tiger (evs) as he sends his birdie putt on 3 past the hole. He misread the line and pushed it to the left.
Danny Willett (-2) opens his round with a front nine 34 due mainly to back-to-back birdies on the last two holes.
