The 148th Open Championship returns to Northern Ireland for only the second time in the tournament’s grand history, 68 years after first visiting Portrush in 1951, and features a heavily-packed Irish contingent of Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke, Graeme McDowell and plenty others.
But a number of Americans arrive at the final major of the year heading the pecking order, with Brooks Koepka and Tiger Woods both hotly fancied after their recent form – the former unstoppable in majors over the last two years and latter claiming his 15th major at the Masters.
But there are plenty of other names in the mix from closer to home, with former world No 1 Justin Rose and in-form Englishman Matt Wallace among those to watch, while Jon Rahm is expected to challenge for his first major victory.

Fantastic Frittelli finishes with a bogey
Dylan Frittelli drops his first shot of the round on the last to go into the clubhouse with a 3-under-par 68.
15th hole
McDowell (-2) misses his par putt, a little left-to-right swinger that rolls over the hole. A little more pace was needed to cut down the swing of the ball.
2nd hole
Koepka (-1) chips his third shot within two inches of the hole on the second and can't believe it didn't go in. He walks up and taps in for birdie. Brooks is in the red.
It was a tough day for Argentina's Emiliano Grillo but he did produce this moment of magic:
Unlucky for MacIntyre
His par putt on the last skirts the right edge of the hole, rolls around the lip and comes out, meaning he goes into the clubhouse one shot behind Shane Lowry.
Five birdies, four bogeys and an eagle for the 22-year-old in his round of 68.
Here's Koepka with his chip into the second to set up his first birdie:
4th hole
Tommy Fleetwood (-1) joins the group under par with a tricky birdie putt on the third. He follows that up with a par save on the fourth hole.
17th hole
Kiradech Aphibarnrat (-2) makes his 15th par of the round on 17. He's been steady and reliable but the birdie putts just haven't dropped for him.

Graeme McDowell (-2) was in trouble off the tee, he found the really long stuff to the left of the fairway but recovered remarkably to get his second shot to the front right edge of the green giving him a chance to get the ball up and down to save par.
Bogey for G-Mac
McDowell (-1) doesn't manage to save par and drops his second shot in the last three holes. Stenson (-1) misses his birdie putt by sending it to the right of the hole.
3rd hole
Jordan Speith (-2) post back-to-back birdies on the second and the third to move within two shots. The weather is glorious now, the sun is shining and the players will wan to make hay.
18th
Kiradech Aphibarnrat(-3) lines up and birdie put from the front of the green. It's quite long but straight, he hits it firm and it goes in! What a putt from Kiradech!
