From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

29 minutes
Strong defence fro mItaly to quell the charge of the maul, but Wainwright soon has his hands back on the ball, and makes the half-metre required to regather momentum. Hint of space on the left...
TRY! A magical piece of skill from Dan Biggar and Josh Adams is in again!
Italy have the numbers. It's three on two as Tomos Williams finds his fly-half with a pass slightly behind Biggar, and as he turns to collect the Italian defenders sniff an opportunity, all three drawn to his exposed midriff like moths to a flame.
Biggar goes all Carlos Spencer with a between-the-legs bullet to Adams, with Leonardo Sarto unable to flip his hips and get out to the wing, who dives over for his second score. A lovely touch from Biggar, and he dusts himself off to knock over the conversion from the left touchline, too.
Wales 21-0 Italy
34 minutes
This time it is Italy pinged for a pre-engage at the scrum, and Tomos Williams is in no mood to dally, quick tap and go from the scrum half and Wales invited to execute another set-piece backs move against a passive Italian defence. This time Italy drift well and push across to prevent Johnny McNicholl haring up the touchline, but his grubber through nearly hops into the hands of, who else, Williams, again sniffing around a loose ball. Italy gather through Callum Braley and clear.
36 minutes
We haven't really seen George North tested in defence yet, but Matteo Minozzi has a go around the outside of the wing-cum-centre, but finding only the meaty embrace of North's long arms, dragged down to complete the cuddle and stall Italy's attempted attack.
37 minutes
Charge down! Butchered! Tomos Williams!
He has been everywhere chasing after loose balls so far, and Williams creates his own on this time, charging down Tommaso Allan's kick with the Italian ten wanting an age to draw his right boot back and strike through the oval ball, and Williams has a clear run to the corner if he can simply gather the bouncing ball.
But he can't! It just gets a touch big on him as he races after it, hopping up to an awkward height and eventually over his head via his forearms, with a guilt-edged chance passed up with two men in support. Italy make a hash of another attempted clearance, of course, and Wales will set the scrum in midfield 15 metres from the Azzurri's line, but that should have been five more points.
38 minutes
Scrum penalty, Dan Biggar poke to the corner. Wales will look to launch another attack from a five-metre lineout.
39 minutes
The maul is well dealt with, Italy timing their drive well to prevent it so much as forming, but Taulupe Faletau slips and slides his way past a couple to make back the three metres Wales lost, and a couple more. Tomos Williams has three options to pick from as he drifts left along the defensive line three metres out, but Tommaso Allan goes all Grail Knight at the end of The Last Crusade as he opts for Hadleigh Parkes on the crash. "You have chosen - poorly!"
Interception, and Allan clears superbly.

40 minutes
The clock ticks into the red with Italy on the attack, and finding gaps for the first time all half, with Carlo Canna's poke through just about defused by Leigh Halfpenny, but the full-back is driven over the touchline.
42 minutes
Wales transgress in their attempts to prevent Italy finding a late first-half score, but their maul defence is on-point as Italy again look to the corner. In come the Italian backs, but their contribution is moot - the maul has already been brought to floor legally, and the whistle of Luke Pearce brings the half to a close.
