From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.
New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

Two slips waiting for the left-handed Henry Nicholls, who has rather optimistically lathered suncream across his nose.
2.0 - New Zealand 0-0, M Guptill 0, H Nicholls 0, Jasprit Bumrah 0-0 (1)
It is odd that it took Henry Nicholls until the last couple of games of the group stage to take Colin Munro's place at the top of the order. He was very much the incumbent opener coming into the tournament, with secure defence and a growing international reputation.
Bumrah's on the money straight away, in and around off stump with each and every ball. Two fair maidens to begin affairs.
3.0 - New Zealand 1-0, M Guptill 1, H Nicholls 0, B Kumar 0-1 (2)
Martin Guptill crunches a straight drive down the ground and is walking to follow it like a golfer towards a holed putt, but has to sharply back-track as Kumar thrusts his right arm down to clutch it on the hop. A good bit of fielding from the bowler, and a very good shot for none.
Finally, New Zealand are away - a squeezed single to the right of square leg. Nicholls is secure in defending his first ball from Kumar.
OUT! A thick outside edge and taken at second slip! Guptill goes!
It was coming. Guptill had shouldered arms to a ball zipping a whisker away from his off-stump from the over's first ball and falls from its third, pushing at a ball lifting in the corridor of uncertainty.
A thick nick, a sharp catch from the Indian captain in the cordon, and India have the early breakthrough.
M Guptill c Kohli b Bumrah 1 (14b 0x4 0x6), New Zealand 1-1 (3.3)
Kane Williamson to the crease inside five overs yet again. The first ball he faces beats the outside edge, and Virat Kohli brings in a gully.
4.0 - New Zealand 2-1, Kane Williamson 1, H Nicholls 0, J Bumrah 1-1 (2)
Virat Kohli only just held on to that. It was travelling, but cling on he did and India have the wicket that always looked like coming.
Williamson gets off the mark and trots down the other end to face Kumar's third.
5.0 - New Zealand 7-1, K Williamson 3, H Nicholls 3, B Kumar 0-6 (3)
That's better from New Zealand, and Nicholls particularly. He finally gets off the mark in smart fashion, defending down into the pitch and watching it skip to about a yard from the cut stuff, and recognising the opportunity to hustle through for a sharp single.
And he's away now, a mistimed flick off the legs bringing two.
A fast start for Jasprit Bumrah and India, Martin Guptill gone for a fourteen-ball one.
6.0 - New Zealand 8-1, K Williamson 4, H Nicholls 3, J Bumrah 1-2 (3)
Henry Nicholls is the type of player who grows in confidence with time at the crease, and he'll be allowed to take his time with no run rate pressure. He's looking to play straight at every opportunity, presenting the full face of the bat to Bumrah's final three balls in another strong over.
