From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

New Zealand are into the World Cup final after a thrilling win over India.

The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.

New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

M.S. Dhoni finally arrives.

23.0 - India 71-5, H Pandya 22, MS Dhoni 0, M Santner 1-0 (2)

Santner completes back-to-back maiden, the second bringing the wicket of Pant. He isn't turning the ball but his lines and lengths have been faultless so far.

24.0 - India 75-5, H Pandya 25, MS Dhoni 1, J Neesham 0-13 (3)

Dhoni gets off the mark with a firm cut to the cover sweeper, while Pandya thumps a back-of-a-length ball through midwicket for a couple.

25.0 - India 77-5, H Pandya 26, MS Dhoni 1, M Santner 1-1 (3)

Tidy again from Santner. A leg bye and a last-ball single as the left-armer concedes his first run from his 18th ball.

Lockie Ferguson returns.

26.0 - India 80-5, H Pandya 29, MS Dhoni 1, L Ferguson 0-12 (5)

I'm curious to see how India play this. The required run rate is already pushing up towards seven and this hasn't been an easy pitch to accelerate on. These two have to survive, of course, but they can't fully let the game drift through to the final ten overs or so and leave themselves too much to do.

27.0 - India 82-5, H Pandya 30, MS Dhoni 2, M Santner 1-3 (4)

This is sterling stuff from Mitch Santner. New Zealand have played on relatively spin friendly pitches so far in the tournament but he's impressed throughout, and he's giving Dhoni and Pandya absolutely nothing at the moment.

28.0 - India 83-5, H Pandya 30, MS Dhoni 3, L Ferguson 0-13 (6)

MS Dhoni nearly falls into New Zealand's trap, Jimmy Neesham stationed at a catching leg gully and briefly interested as Dhoni pulls a Ferguson short ball. But it is a controlled shot, fine and short of Neesham, and through to an orthodox fine leg for a single.

Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni are digging in with New Zealand firmly on top at Old Trafford.

Harry Latham-Coyle10 July 2019 13:09

29.0 - India 85-5, H Pandya 30, MS Dhoni 5, M Santner 1-5 (5)

Comparatively dear for Santner, this over - two from it, cut hard through backward point by Dhoni.
