Brilliant centuries from Jos Buttler and Joe Root were not enough to carry England to a record World Cup chase as Pakistan produced a stunning upset at Trent Bridge.
Root's 107 was the first ton of the tournament and Buttler was in irresistible form with 103 in 76 balls but both men fell before the finishing line, with Pakistan closing out a 14-run victory.
A target of 349 invited England to go where no other team had gone before at this level and while their master batsmen were in charge it looked as though they could, should and then would make it two wins from two. Re-live the action in the live blog below

Jason Roy fields well at backward point to prevent a single and fires the ball back to Ben Stokes via the pitch. The umpires are just having a word with Eoin Morgan about that, they won't want them seeking an unfair advantage by altering the ball at all.

Adil Rashid is back in the middle and watches Babar hit ball for four, then whack it for six.
Three dot balls later and he finds the boundary again at deep mid-wicket after Rashid tries a short option.

England bring Jofra Archer into the attack and he starts with a great delivery that flies past Hafeez. A couple of dot balls later and a wide is given after the England quick bounces a ball over his head, much to Archer's disapproval.
Archer is showing some signs of frustration here, a sign of where England are at the minute.
Babar Azam gets himself to a quality half-century. Quality batting from a very popular player.

Great fielding from Jonny Bairstow to fling himself at the ball on the boundary and prevents a four.
Adil Rashid was very pleased to see that going for two rather than four. Moments like that, especially in the absence of breakthroughs, can really lift a group.

Hafeez is very good against spin and he gets four from the next shot!
