From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Australia are looking to return to winning ways against Sri Lanka after losing to India in their previous World Cup match.
Aaron Finch makes one change to the side with Jason Behrendorff replacing Nathan Coulter-Nile, who is struggling with a minor injury.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first a The Oval.
48.3 Australia 320-7
WICKET! Cummins (0) run out Udana
Incredible! Cummins is gone for a duck and it's another run out from Udana. The single was never on, but Cummins strayed too far. You can't do that when Udana's around.
49.0 Australia 324-7 Glenn Maxwell 40 Mitch Starc 1
Excellent bowling, and fielding, from Udana to finish his spell. Australia have been restricted well by the Sri Lankan attack in these final few overs.
50 Australia 334-7 Glenn Maxwell 46 Mitch Starc 5
Maxwell picks out the boundary with the final ball of the innings to take Australia up to 334. It could prove to be an important knock from Maxwell.
So Sri Lanka will need 335 to win, a difficult but not unachievable run chase. Australia are certainly strong favourites to get the job done, though.
Meanwhile
There's been a slight delay in the game between Afghanistan and South Africa in Cardiff because, almost unbelievably, it's been raining. Afghanistan are 33-0 after 5.5 overs. Let's hope it's just a shower.
6.1 Afghanistan 34-0 Hazratullah 17 Zadran 16
Play is back underway in Cardiff!
Kagiso Rabada and Beuran Hendricks have done a good job so far to keep the score down at the beginning of the powerplay.
8.2 Afghanistan 39-1 Hazratullah 22 Zadran 16
WICKET! Hazratullah Zazai c van der Dussen b Rabada 22
South Africa have breakthrough! Pitched up by Rabada and Zazai tries to pull it, but can't get hold of it.
A smart catch by van der Dussen, sliding in from midwicket, relief!
Sri Lanka need 335 to win
The players are back out at the Oval. Can Sri Lanka pull off what would be their record ODI run chase?
0.3 Sri Lanka 5-0 Dimuth Karunaratne 1 Kusal Perera 4
Mitch Starc has opened the bowling for Australia and is searching for the right line and length. Perera flicks one away on the off side and gets the first boundary of the innings.
1.0 Sri Lanka 12-0 Dimuth Karunaratne 7 Kusal Perera 4
An excellent first over for Sri Lanka as Karunaratne cracks a square drive for four. Starc will need to be much more controlled than this.
2.0 Sri Lanka 24-0 Dimuth Karunaratne 10 Kusal Perera 13
Sri Lanka aren't wasting any time early on here. Perera latches onto two short balls from Cummins, pulling them away for four. He's timing his shots really nicely; this quick start might have given Sri Lanka a bit more belief.
