From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Leg spinner Imran Tahir took 4-29 as he engineered an Afghani collapse after a 75-minute rain break as they were dismissed for 125. Chris Morris contributed with figures of 3-13 and Andile Phehlukwayo took two wickets for 18.
The South Africans then set about the slightly adjusted target of 127 from 48 overs in cautious fashion, reaching 131-1 with 19 overs to spare. Re-live the action below:

We'll also have live updates from the second match taking place today, Afghanistan vs South Africa.
South Africa won the toss and have chosen to bowl as they continue to search for their first win at the World Cup.
43.3 Australia 278-4
WICKET! Smith (73) b Malinga
Another wicket! Finch goes and Smith follows. Malinga brings out the yorker from around the wicket and smashes into the outside of off stump.
44.0 Australia 280-4 Glenn Maxwell 5 Shaun Marsh 1
Two new batsmen at the crease then for Australia. They'll be hoping for some big hits in the final six overs. That was an excellent over from Malinga: just five runs and a wicket come from it.
44.2 Australia 290-4 Glenn Maxwell 15 Shaun Marsh 1
Maxwell goes big! He cracks one down the ground for four and then smashes a six in the same place, leaning back and hitting a baseball-like slog over long-on.
45.0 Australia 302-4 Glenn Maxwell 27 Shaun Marsh 1
A costly over from Pradeep. He invites Maxwell to hit three more boundaries and Australia bring up their 300. Twenty-two runs come from the over.
46.0 Australia 306-4 Glenn Maxwell 29 Shaun Marsh 2
Just four runs from Malinga's penultimate over. After a slow start, he's bowled well in the latter stages of Australia's innings.
46.5 Australia 310-5
WICKET! Marsh (3) b Udana c Siriwardana
Marsh, frustrated by Udana's clever variations, goes for a big shot but can only pick out Siriwardana on the boundary. He managed just three runs from nine balls, so it might be a blessing in disguise for Australia. Carey is likely to be better suited to this situation.
48.0 Australia 317-5 Glenn Maxwell 34 Alex Carey 4
Another solid over to finish for Malinga. Just seven off it and, crucially, no boundaries.
