Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

This was Thomas' reaction after that putt...

Sergio speaks to Sky Sports after his amazing putt on 17:

"It was amazing. I think we played great all day. Obviously they started coming hard at us the last few holes, a couple little mistakes here and there, but you know, we knew that we just had to keep giving ourselves chances and you know, the way we're playing - it was great for him to make that, gave me a little more freedom and great to roll it in."

Poulter & Rahm vs Spieth & Thomas (1UP)

Back to fifteen where Spieth just had a great chance to stretch the lead to two. He's pushed it though and Poulter tidies up to half. One down with three to play.

Poulter & Rahm vs Spieth & Thomas (1UP)

Thomas, Poulter and Spieth all land within close range of the pin over on the 16th. This is shaping up to be a tense and thrilling finale to this morning's fourballs session.

Poulter & Rahm vs Spieth & Thomas (1UP)

Spieth lines up for birdie... but he comes up short! Wow. Wasn't expecting that. Poulter is facing a slight incline for his putt, right to left... and he makes it!

Poulter & Rahm vs Spieth & Thomas (1UP)

As you were. Thomas makes birdie too and the hole is halved. No change. Two to go.

You love to see it...

Poulter & Rahm vs Spieth & Thomas (1UP)

On to the 17th.

From the tee, Poulter and Rahm both find the rough - as does Spieth. But Thomas plops down on the fairway to keep the Americans in control of this match.
