The hosts took the morning fourballs 3-1 before keeping that advantage in the afternoon foursomes to take what could prove a decisive 10-6 lead into the final day.

It all gets underway at 7.10am on Saturday morning with the opening fourballs.

And we're back after that incredible afternoon session and it's a frosty morning in Paris.
But Ed Malyon has been inspecting the course since the early hours:
Dark and cold again as the masses stream into Le Golf National but it won’t be for long. In an hour we will be underway with the sun peeking over the 7th hole and bathing the course in some much-needed warmth. Stay tuned for all the action as it happens.
And first up it's Rory McIlroy who's partnered with Sergio Garcia today vs yesterday's opening match winners Brooks Koepka and Tony Finau.
Word has it Rory McIlroy was so pumped up after yesterday's win that he's had to size up his polo shirt for this morning.

So here we go then. They are on the tee and the second day of the Ryder Cup is underway. Maybe the adrenaline is still coursing for McIlroy because he's pulled his iron but it's just stopped shy of the water. All four men are safely in play.

Brooks Koepka was phenomenal yesterday and the underappreciated three-time major champion finds the heart of the green and Finau's cosied up right next to him.
The pin is back left and McIlroy's only perched on the front but Sergio's hit the pick of the bunch, taking on the water, and has an uphill putt for birdie.

McIlroy has blitzed it past the hole. He'd have been better off securing the par so Sergio could have a run at it. After all...
Casey & Hatton vs Johnson & Fowler
Well it hasn't quite gone to plan so far. Fowler gets the second group underway and hooks it into the water. Was he put off by the wild hissing and boos behind the tee?

Johnson almost follows him and only comes up a foot short of the lake. Tyrrell Hatton is absolutely loving the cheers which come with each practice swing but he's lost concentration and he's in the water too. Paul Casey however has hammered it straight down the middle and it's his to win.
