From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

WrestleMania 34 takes place in Sunday night to close out another frantic 12 months of WWE action on the Grandest Stage of them All in New Orleans.

The Mercedez Benz Superdome stages the 34th edition of WrestleMania, which sees a number of fascinating matches booked and the potential second departure of Brock Lesnar, plus a number of rumoured returns including that of the supposedly retired Undertaker.

But one of the biggest matches of the night could well be that of AJ Styles against Shinsuke Nakamura as the two fan-favourites go up against each other for the WWE Championship, while both women’s titles will be on the line as Charlotte Flair takes on Asuka for the Smackdown Championship and Alexa Bliss defends against Nia Jax for the Raw version.

But it’s the professional debut of Ronda Rousey – who teams up with Kurt Angle to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon – that could well be the highlight as the former UFC champion makes her bow in the WWE.

We're just a few minutes away from the start of WrestleMania 34!

To get you in the mood, here's a quick rundown of what's happened on the pre-show...

It's showtime! WrestleMania 34 kicks off with...the American national anthem. Ah

Jack de Menezes9 April 2018 00:01

It's go time! The thousands in attendance inside the Mercedes Benz Superdome and the millions watching at home are treated to a pyrotechnic opening, before the music of Seth Rollins hits to immediately lift the fans to the feet. You know what that means, we're kicking off with the Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat match!

Jack de Menezes9 April 2018 00:07

Next out it's the defending champion, The MIz, with his trusty Miztourage by his side as Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel flank him side-by-side. However, Miz sends Bo Dallas backstage immediately, and then orders Axel to do the same. Could he really be going into this bout all on his own? I'm skeptical.

Finn Balor makes up the trio, and immediately leaps out of the ring to splash onto his two opponents. Here we go!

Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat Match

With Rollins laid out ringside, Miz and Balor are going at it and it's the Irishman who's seizing the advantage. He floors Miz, and the champion crawls to the turnbuckle as he tries to get away from Balor.

Now what could John Cena be waiting for?

Jack de Menezes9 April 2018 00:19

Intercontinental Title Triple Threat Match

Miz gets the Figure-Four locked in on Balor, but from nowhere Rollins lands a huge Frogsplash - and I mean HUGE - on miz that breaks it up. Rollins goes for the pin...1.....2....NO!
