From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Royal Rumble takes place this Sunday as one of the WWE’s flagship events returns for its 30th edition where 30 Superstars will battle for a world championship shot at WrestleMania 33.

In what is one of the year’s hotly-anticipated shows, the Royal Rumble has provided memorable moments that have gone down in WWE history, from breath-taking stunts to shock returns and surprise winners.

This year’s edition promises to be no different, with the added spice of the Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar rivalry included after both became the first entries into the Royal Rumble back in November following Goldberg’s stunning 89-second victory over Lesnar at Survivor Series.

The pair went face-to-face on the final edition of Raw this week, only to be interrupted by The Undertaker, who will also feature in the main event in the hope of claiming his second Rumble victory, while other names already confirmed include the likes of Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt and Rumble specialist Kofi Kingston, who has developed a talent for avoiding elimination by extraordinary stunts.

Along with the Royal Rumble, the WWE Universal Championship, the WWE Championship and the WWE Raw Women’s Championship will be on the line, as well as the Raw Tag Team titles and the Cruiserweight Championship.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2017 Royal Rumble.

What time does it start?

Complete with broken nose and face mask, Rusev comes out and immediately takes every one out to stand tall on his own.

Out comes Cesaro and immediately puts everyone into the swing, including Big E and Corbin. He then grabs Sheamus, and his tag team partner pleads not to be swung before Kofi kicks him in the head. The New Day is completed as Xavier Woods joins Kofi and Big E in a very busy ring.

Jack de Menezes30 January 2017 03:09

The New Day go to work together on Sheams before Cesaro breaks up the fun by trying to eliminate Big E. The Miz is tackling the other two members, and gets a double kick to the head for his efforts.

Jack de Menezes30 January 2017 03:10

Bray Wyatt arrives and wastes little time in taking out Miz, Rusev and Sheamus. He's confronted by Xavier Woods, who once again freezes in fear, and he gets a huge clothesline for his efforts.

Jack de Menezes30 January 2017 03:12

No 22 is Apollo Cruz in his first Royal Rumble match, and he tries to take on Wyatt and manages to take the Eater of the Worlds off his feet. Wyatt fights back though, and we're up to 11 men in the ring, plus Jericho who is STILL outside.

Jack de Menezes30 January 2017 03:14

Big E tries to stop Kofi and Xavier Woods getting eliminated, and Sheamus and Cesaro manage to eliminate all three of New Day! The pair then try to eliminate each other, and Jericho sneaks back into the ring to push them both out! Randy Orton arrives just as the quintet leave, and promptly delivers three RKOs out of nowhere!

Jack de Menezes30 January 2017 03:16

Dolph Ziggler runs down to the ring and superkicks Rusev square on his broken nose. He then tries to eliminate Cruz and Miz, but Ambrose soon puts an end to it by attacking Ziggler.

Jack de Menezes30 January 2017 03:17

The third member of the Wyatt family comes out as Luke Harper jogs down to the ring. There's friction here, after Harper fought Orton last week on Smackdown Live and got a sister Abigail from Bray Wyatt for his efforts. Harper throws Cruz out of the ring, and is locked in a staredown with Orton. Wyatt tries to calm them down, and he clotheslines Wyatt!

Jack de Menezes30 January 2017 03:19

Harper goes for the sister Abigail on Wyatt, only for Orton to make the save with an RKO. Here we go! The first of the big guns to arrive is Brock Lesnar!
