From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The match will be shown live on BBC One from 08:30 GMT.

80 mins: Gale chips it through but it falls into Australian hands and the chance goes begging. Australia complete their set and they kick downfield, and England need to go 60 metres in 50 seconds to try and draw level.

F/T: AUSTRALIA WIN THE RUGBY LEAGUE WORLD CUP!

Jack de Menezes2 December 2017 10:53

F/T: The final play sees England keep the ball alive at all costs, and after finding space on the edge, Watkins makes the break and flings the ball inside to McGillvary. He beats one man and takes aim for the line, but he decides to chip it past the last man and Slater is able to gather the ball to take the tackle and end the game.

So near for England, yet so far, and it's heartbreak for England once again.
