Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Argentina will need to achieve a 2-0 score against Nigeria to keep their World Cup hopes alive. After a tough game against Croatia last week the 2014 World Cup finalists might look to make a few changes to their squad ahead of their game against Nigeria on Tuesday.

Nigeria are currently second place in Group D with a win or a draw against Lionel Messi's men securing their place in the round of 16.

Former Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba has warned the Nigerian side against taking a defensive approach against the Argentine side claiming that their offensive approach against Iceland brought them the victory.

Prediction

Both teams have their World Cup hopes on the line in this game. The previous two games should serve as a wake-up call to Argentina who are widely expected to take the victory.

There was drama in Group D as 6 goals over two brought it down to the wire, Croatia triumphed over Iceland giving them three wins in three and a late goal from Marcos Rojo put Argentina through to the last 16.
