England's Jodie Taylor scored the only goal as they broke the deadlock against Argentina just past the hour to secure a 1-0 win and reach the last 16 at the Women's World Cup on Friday.

England's Nikita Parrish had a first-half penalty saved by Vanina Correa, but Taylor got on the end of Beth Mead's cross in the 62nd minute to give her side their second straight win.

England, who moved on to six points in Group D, join hosts France, Germany and Italy into the knockout phase. Re-live the action below:

GOAL! A bit of respite for Argentina as Moore is shoved off the ball by Jaimes. She gives it to Banini who tries to hold up the ball as Argentina come forward. Greenwood wins in back, gives it to Scott who breaks quickly and passes to Kirby. Kirby sends it to Mead on the left who delivers a perfect ball to the far post for a Jodie Taylor tap-in.

England lead!

A quick VAR check show Taylor was onside so the goal stands. Argentina now have to come at England which should open up more opportunities for England to close out this game.

70 mins: England 1 - 0 Argentina

Argentina make the first change as Banini goes off and Larroquette comes on. Estefania Banini has had a quiet game today and hasn't looked nearly as threatening as she did against Japan.

England win a free kick, about 30 yards out, Kirby drifts into space on the left edge of the box and Houghton finds her but Kirby loses the ball as she cuts back inside.

Beth Mead goes off in England first substitution. Georgia Stanway comes on in her stead.

A second goal will calm England down. They don't look likely to concede but nerves have a way of affecting things. Parris wins a free kick wide on the right wing.

Stanway gives it to Kirby who puts the ball into the box. Argentina clear it away but England lose the ball. A long ball forward from Argentina gives it them back and they need to manage the last few minutes of this game.
