From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

Wolverhampton Wanderers produced a late turnaround to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the early kick-off. Pedro Porro set up Brennan Johnson to tap in from close range just two minutes in and despite the hosts having a shed-load of chances, their wastefulness looked set to see Spurs take the points.

However, Pablo Sarabia whacked in a 90th-minute equaliser, before Mario Lemina slid in a winner six minutes later to send the Molineux fans wild and hand Spurs a second successive league defeat.

Even wasteful Wolves showed Spurs’ sudden problems - Ange Postecoglou needs a quick fix

Two minutes: that’s how long it took for Tottenham Hotspur to ease a first few lingering nerves that a decimated defence might make them a less-effective team, following that wild and wacky defeat to Chelsea last time out. It wasn’t the end of them by any means, but it gave Spurs both an early lift and something to fight for.

And 88 minutes: that’s how long Ange Postecoglou had to observe and realise that – despite his makeshift team’s obvious effort, desire and willingness to go above and beyond – there just wasn’t the cohesion and balance needed to keep out the best attacks in the Premier League. And that was before the game’s late turnaround.

Brennan Johnson it was who scored early, tapping in after a typically fast-flowing move down the right flank but Spurs rarely threatened thereafter and it was a very different type of performance for the majority of the rest of the game. Even so, they still led until just when the injury time board was being raised; a magnificent first touch and volley from Pablo Sarabia later, matters were levelled. And with the latest of late sucker-punches, Mario Lemina slid in to send the home fans delirious, six minutes past the 90, for Wolves 2-1 Tottenham.

In between, a whole lot happened to give Postecoglou both reason for optimism and pause for thought.

And breathe! The full-time whistle sparks more wild celebrations at Molineux, where Wolves have scored two stoppage-time goals to condemn Tottenham to back-to-back defeats in the most remarkable fashion! Johnson's early tap-in looked like being enough for Postecoglou's men as Wolves squandered chance after chance, with Hwang and Kalajdzic guilty of their two most glaring misses in the second half. However, the late introduction of Sarabia was the catalyst for a stunning turnaround. The Spaniard levelled with a brilliant strike as the clock ticked into stoppage-time, then turned provider in the 97th minute as his low cross was turned home by Lemina! What a result for O'Neil's team – it's just the eighth time a team has won a Premier League game when they were losing going into the 90th minute, and half of those matches have involved Tottenham (two wins, two losses). Wolves go into the international break on a high with 15 points from 12 games, and they will face Fulham at Craven Cottage after the hiatus. Spurs, meanwhile, must regroup ahead of a huge showdown with Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on November 26. Thank you for joining us for our coverage of another crazy Premier League game – it's goodbye for now, and we'll see you next time!
