Follow live coverage as Wolverhampton Wanderers face Southampton today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Southampton

A massive moment in Wolves' campaign as they finally secure a league win this season. To top it off, they also record a much-needed clean sheet, their first in 23 Premier League games. The hosts capitalised on an early chance with Sarabia giving them the lead as early as the second minute. Southampton dominated the ball in both halves, more in the first, but hardly made Wolves keeper Sa work hard after they had an early goal of their own controversially disallowed by VAR. Wolves continued to sit back and play on the counter in the second half, and it worked wonders as Cunha smashed home a lovely long-range effort to double the hosts' lead. Wolves dominated the xG numbers with 1.30 to Southampton's 0.60. Despite having only 29% possession throughout the game, they had 18 touches in the opposition box to the Saints' 19.

Almost a third for Wolves! Ait-Nouri charges down the left, comes inside, and fires one across the box. Bellegarde slides and tries to get something on it but the ball just about evades him.

More changes from Wolves. Cunha, who was brilliant today and was certainly the difference maker in this game, makes way for Gomes. Meanwhile, six minutes have been added here to see through the game.

Southampton are just hanging on here and don't look anywhere close to making something happen in this game as we edge closer to the final whistle. They have had almost 72% possession in the second half, but Wolves have executed their plans to perfection.

Onuachu charges into Dawson around the touchline and is pulled back for a foul. He is lucky to escape a booking though. Totti then makes a fantastic tackle to stop Diaz in his tracks after the Saints player was looking to make a productive run down the right.

A good chance but Bellegarde fluffs it with a poor touch inside the box. Southampton lose the ball cheaply again and Ait-Nouri runs with it down the left before chipping it into the box for Bellegarde, whose touch lets him down and he loses the ball. The Saints clear their lines.

Bellegarde goes into the book now for a poor tackle on Fernandes. He steps on his foot there with a very late tackle.
