A first-half brace from Mohammed Kudus helped West Ham make it seven wins from nine matches with a 3-0 victory over Wolves.

Summer recruit Kudus scored against Freiburg on Thursday to help David Moyes’ team top their Europa League group and this latest result was further evidence the recent thrashing at Fulham was an anomaly.

Kudus’ third and fourth goals in his last five matches set West Ham on their way and, while Wolves attacker Pablo Sarabia had a 58th-minute effort ruled out for a marginal offside by VAR Jarred Gillett, the hosts deserved their victory, with Jarrod Bowen rounding off the scoring 16 minutes from time.

Sarabia's following cross is poor, but Fabianski punches it away instead of catching it. Bellegarde chests the ball down outside the area before lifting his attempt well over.

Ward-Prowse and Paqueta combine down the right, but the right-footed cross from the Brazilian is cleared away. However, West Ham win possession back immediately and are not being challenged by Wolves. It looks like their only hope is that the Hammers get tired after their match in the Europa League during the week.

West Ham were much better than Wolves in the first half. They have been clinical with their chances and have scored twice despite creating an xG (expected goals) of 0.82 with the eight shots and were unlucky not to find a third when Bowen crashed the inside of the post. Kudus has been their star player. He has scored both of his shots on target whilst making two tackles and winning three fouls. As for Wolves, the two goals that they conceded were preventable. Bentley could have done better with Kudus' first goal and Toti was well out of position for his second. Cunha has been lively, having two shots and two key passes, but Hwang has been quiet.

Kudus scored twice in the first half to give West Ham a 2-0 lead over Wolves heading into the break. Wolves had few chances to score before half-time, with Cunha testing Fabianski with a shot from a tight angle early on. Paqueta then crashed an effort well over the bar before laying on two assists for Kudus. The Hammers countered from a Wolves corner, with the Brazilian sending a lofted pass down the right to the Ghana international. He cut inside from the right and drilled a low strike into the bottom corner from outside the box. Cunha forced Fabianski into a diving save down to his right before the hosts doubled their advantage. Paqueta found Kudus with a switch of play over to the right, with the former Ajax man taking his time before sliding his effort across the goal and into the net.
