Arteta responds to "celebration police" comments from pundits

Arsenal demolished West Ham at the London Stadium to keep up the pace with Manchester City and Liverpool in the title race. In a totally one-sided affair, the Gunners started strongly forcing saves out of Alphonse Areola before a set piece helped them into the lead. William Saliba leapt highest from a corner to nod home the opener.

David Moyes’ side then fell apart and Arsenal took complete control with slick passing, fine runs and a clinical eye for goal. Bukayo Saka won and converted a penalty to score the second before Gabriel headed home a third. Leandro Trossard curled in a fine finish from just inside the box to make it four goals before half-time.

After the break, Saka added a fifth with his second of the afternoon and the icing on the cake came from Declan Rice who slotted home a long range effort against his former club to secure all three points.

GOAL! West Ham 0-4 Arsenal (Trossard, 45+2 mins)

Arsenal have a fourth before the break!

Well, you certainly wouldn’t want to be in the West Ham dressing room now as the home side concede their third goal in just seven minutes.

Odegaard slips through the Trossard into the box and the Belgian shifts it onto his right before curling a wonderful finish past Areola and into the top corner.

A slew of West Ham fans head for an early half-time exit and you suspect many won’t be back after the break. A disastrous end to the half for the home side.

West Ham 0-3 Arsenal

45+1 mins: Into the first of seven minutes of added time we go. David Moyes’ face on the sidelines says it all.

I, for one, would not want to be in the home dressing room at half-time...

GOAL! West Ham 0-3 Arsenal (Gabriel, 44 mins)

Arsenal strike again before the break!

It goes from bad to worse for West Ham as Gabriel easily gets the wrong side of Alvarez from a free-kick to thunder home a header from Declan Rice’s free-kick delivery.

A superb end to the first half for the visitors, though, who have surely all but wrapped up the three points aleady.

GOAL! West Ham 0-2 Arsenal (Saka pen, 41 mins)

Arsenal double their lead!

Saka missed a vital penalty at the London Stadium last season but he makes no mistake this time, sending Areola the wrong way and firing into the bottom-right corner.

A quite simply terrible ten minutes from West Ham - they have a mountain to climb now.

West Ham 0-1 Arsenal

40 mins: Saka was onside so the penalty stands. Saka looks like he will take it...

West Ham 0-1 Arsenal

38 mins: PENALTY! Perhaps the easiest decision Craig Pawson has had in his refereeing career.

Saka springs in behind the West Ham defence but is brought down clumsily by Areola as the Arsenal forward looks to round the Hammers’ keeper.

Areola is shown a yellow card but there’s now a VAR check to make sure Saka was onside initially...

West Ham 0-1 Arsenal

37 mins: Another great chance for Saka as Odegaard slides the ball through to him inside the box. It’s a tight angle and Saka’s dinked effort goes just wide of the far post.

West Ham 0-1 Arsenal

35 mins: Arsenal should be two up! Kiwior’s cross in from the left finds Saka in all kinds of space in the penalty area but the Englishman nods wide with his header.

He’s understandably frustrated with himself - that was a cracking chance to give his side some vital breathing space.

GOAL! West Ham 0-1 Arsenal (Saliba, 32 mins)

Arsenal have the opener and it’s another set-piece goal for the Gunners!

Rice swings the ball towards a crowded back post and it’s Saliba who rises highest to nod home past Areola.

That’s a soft one to concede for West Ham.

West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

30 mins: Martinelli flashes a low cross into the box but Aguerd clears the danger just before the onrushing Odegaard can get on the end of it.
