In Thursday news, Manchester United are expected to ramp up their attempts to sign Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen. Barcelona are now apparently looking to make a bid for the Belgian and United are now expected to offer as much as £15 million to lure him away from the Emirates.
Vermaelen has already rejected the chance to extend his contract at Arsenal.
Louis van Gaal is also lining up a possible move for Daley Blind. Van Gaal managed Blind during his time as coach of the Netherlands. He scored his first senior goal for the Netherlands in the 3-0 defeat of Brazil during this year's World Cup. There are even suggestions van Gaal will also move for Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado, another player who shone in Brazil this summer.
Furthermore, with Paris Saint German pulling out of negotiations with Real Madrid over the signing of Angel Di Maria, United are now believed to be favourites to snap up the World Cup finallist. PSG said today that Di Maria was too expensive for them to sign.
Elsewhere, Arsenal could be offered the chance to sign Sami Khedira on the cheap as Real Madrid are believed to be looking to sell the midfielder sooner rather than later in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer. The World Cup winner is in the last year of his contract at Madrid and manager Carlo Ancelotti has numerous preferred midfielders, such as Xabi Alonso and Luka Modric, as well as new signings Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.
Moving across North London, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Memphis Depay. The 20-year-old Dutch talent is rated at £15 million and is currently at PSV Eindhoven.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has signed Michel Vorm, Ben Davies and Eric Drier so far this summer.
One player that won't be moving to the Premier League is Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who has agreed a new contract with the Spanish club. Benzema scored three goals at this year's World Cup for France while netting 17 league goals for Madrid last season. Arsenal and Liverpool were both keen to sign the star striker.
West Ham are in desperate need of a striker after the injury of Andy Carroll during pre-season, although the club are reluctant to meet Stoke CIty's asking price for Peter Crouch. Stoke have asked for £3 million for Crouch.
And finally, Liverpool and Spurs are interested in Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The 30-year-old has only one year left at German side Schalke.
