From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Premier League's January transfer window is upon us with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham all set to be busy.
Liverpool were the summer's biggest spenders with no fewer than four new arrivals. Goalkeeper Alisson was the headline-grabber with the Brazilian already proving worth every penny of the world-record fee the Reds shelled out for the Brazilian. Could long-term target Nabil Fekir join him next month? United got a couple of new faces in through the door in the summer but it hasn't made a difference with Jose Mourinho out and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in. Will he spend them out of trouble in the January sales?
Chelsea have made the biggest splash with the signing of Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic while Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal could all choose to dip their toes in the water as they battle for an all-important top four spot. We will have all the latest news, views, rumours, gossip and done deals right here so don't touch that dial.

Newcastle are ready to revive their bid for Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris when the transfer window reopens, according to the Daily Mirror.
Rafa Benitez made a summer enquiry about the 29-year-old but was put off by the £10million asking price, the paper says.
However, Samaris is set to be out of contract at the end of the season.
Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite has joined Leganes on loan until the end of the season, the clubs have announced.
Braithwaite travelled to Spain earlier this week for talks with the LaLiga side and the Denmark international has now completed the move from Teesside.
West Brom are reportedly interested in signing Leicester's Andy King on loan in January to add energy to their midfield.
King is keen to leave Leicester once the winter window opens after being left out of the side's Premier League squad and Carabao Cup games, the Daily Mail reports.
West Brom boss Darren Moore is said to see the Wales international as an ideal signing when the window opens.
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed midfielder Steven Davis is expected to rejoin Rangers.
The 34-year-old Northern Ireland captain looks set to return to Ibrox, having left to sign for the Saints during the summer of 2012.
Davis has found his first-team chances limited this season, and Hasenhuttl revealed the club would look to support the midfielder in his desire to move back to Scotland.
"The fact is he has half-a-year contract here until the summer, so what we want to give him is a chance to make the next step. If there is a possibility, then we will help him to do so," Hasenhuttl said at a press conference.
"He has done a lot for this club, and there we find a good solution where we have a win-win situation for both sides."
Asked if the deal was close to completion in the next few days, the Saints boss added: "It can be. I am looking forward and if it is, then we will tell you."
Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund have been watching West Ham’s Reece Oxford as they consider a January bid, according to reports.
The Daily Mirror says representatives from both clubs were at a Hammers under-23 match against Chelsea last month, while Hoffenheim scouts were also in attendance.
Where will Aaron Ramsey end up?
That's a question that puzzle Arsenal fans for some time with the Wales international set to leave on a free at the end of the season.
Bayern Munich, Juventus, Real Madrid and PSG are all interested in him, according to the BBC.
A done deal in the Championship and Preston North End have a new striker.
They have signed Exeter's free-scoring striker Jayden Stockley for an undisclosed fee.
Famously the 25-year-old's 32 goals in 2018 were more than any other player in the top four divisions.
West Ham are apparently keen on Everton midfielder James McCarthy.
The Hammers are looking to bolster their midfield and see the Republic of Ireland international as the ideal addition.
The Daily Mail say they will push for a loan deal this month.
Chelsea have made by far the biggest splash so far with the signing of Christian Pulisic.
A £58m deal for one of the most sought after players in Europe appears on the surface to be a winner for the Blues.
But, as Miguel Delaney explains, it's not without its downsides.
Bayern Munich have apparently made an improved bid for Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The German giants are very interested in the 18-year-old who only has 18 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
The Sun say they have upped their offer from £20m to £30m with the Blues holding out for closer to £40m.
