Liverpool have rejected a £90m offer from Barcelona for Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, but the fear is that the bid will not be the last from the Spanish club as they continue their search for Neymar’s replacement.
The Independent confirmed on Wednesday night that Barcelona had offered €100m for 25-year-old Coutinho, who is believed to have expressed an interest in joining Barcelona.
However, Liverpool are continuing to dig their heels in and immediately rejected the offer.
Alexis Sanchez’s future remains far from clear after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger ruled the Chile international out for at least two weeks with a side strain, meaning he could not play for the Gunners before the end of the summer transfer window.
Manchester City remain keen on Sanchez, but Arsenal are incredibly reluctant to sell the 28-year-old to a Premier League rival, while Paris Saint-Germain continue to be linked despite their growing interest in Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe.
Finally, West Ham could move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, with the 25-year-old valued at around £25m.

Liverpool hold all the power in the battle to keep Philippe Coutinho out of the clutches of Barcelona, according to former boss Brendan Rodgers. The Spanish giants bid €100m (£90.2m) for the playmaker on Wednesday but it was rejected out of hand and Barca fear the Reds will hold firm in their stance that the Brazilian is not for sale at any price.

Keita on the move?
The sporting director of RB Leipzig has admitted that Naby Keita will likely leave the club next summer.
Rangnick told German newspaper Bild: "Next season Naby theoretically has the option to go. I’m assuming that he will play a strong season, even in the Champions League. And then there will be big clubs that are interested in him. Accordingly, it will probably be difficult to keep him."
Next year, Keita's release clause will automatically revert to €50m.
Ronald Koeman is confident Everton are close to striking a deal with Swansea for playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The Everton manager has also revealed the club have received no firm interest in midfielder Ross Barkley and the England international is now back in training after groin surgery.
Everton have had two approaches for Sigurdsson turned down by the Swans after being heavily linked with the 27-year-old throughout the summer.
Swansea are thought to be holding out for £50m and their manager Paul Clement has suggested negotiations are currently at an impasse.
But Koeman claimed last weekend a deal could be imminent and he still feels that is the case.

Done deal
Crystal Palace have completed their loan signing of Timothy Fosu-Mensah from Manchester United.
The 19-year-old defender underwent a medical with the Eagles on Tuesday before finalising the touches on his loan move today, which will see the Dutchman join Palace for the 2017-18 campaign.
Fosu-Mensah only signed a new contract at Old Trafford last October, which will tie him down to United until June 2020, but he has been allowed to leave by Jose Mourinho in pursuit of first-team football.
