Manchester United appear to be dominating the headlines as they look the most likely of the top Premier League clubs to do business in January in an effort to chase down their rivals Manchester City and claim a first title success since 2013.

The Independent revealed on Friday that United are considering a move for Alex Sandro after favouring the Juventus left-back over Tottenham’s Danny Rose, with the club unwilling to do business with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy after growing frustrated with negotiation over Eric Dier in the summer.

The move for Sandro could well lead to Manchester City moving for Rose, although their priority remains trying to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the January window even though he is out of contract and available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

United are also keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Weigl, although the midfielder is not considered a priority signing.

Arsenal continue to be linked with midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, who has been left out of the Sevilla side that will take on Real Madrid this weekend as his future remains up in the air, but the Gunners are yet to open contract renewal talks with Jack Wilshere – who like Sanchez is out of contract at the end of the season.

Finally, Thibaut Courtois has opened the door to a Chelsea exit after admitting that he will consider his future at the end of the season, with a move back to Spain currently among his options due to family reasons.

Gareth Bale will be allowed to leave Real Madrid in the summer with Manchester United leading the race, according to Dario Gol.

United have been keeping tabs on the Welshman’s availability since his move to the Spanish capital in 2013, although the Express are reporting that Mauricio Pochettino is also open to the possibility of him returning to Spurs, who have first refusal on the winger.
