Arsenal have completed the club-record signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after getting the green light from Borussia Dortmund to announce the deal, with the striker joining for £56m, and have followed it up by agreeing a new three-and-a-half year contract extension for Mesut Özil that will see him paid £350,000-a-week.
The Gunners have put the 3-1 defeat by Swansea behind them on Wednesday by announcing a new club-record deal, with Olivier Giroud now expected to leave the club. Giroud looks certain to leave Arsenal for Chelsea after Blues agreed an £18m deal with the Gunners to keep him remain in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Dortmund are set to sign Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi on loan until the end of the season, with the Belgian striker in Dortmund undergoing a medical.
Manchester City will continue their late pursuit of Riyad Mahrez, although Leicester City are believed to have rejected a third offer on Tuesday worth £55m, and have informed the Premier League leaders that it will take a lot more to tempt them into selling as they do not have enough time to find a replacement.
Tottenham will also complete their first bit of business this month after agreeing a deal worth around £28m wit Paris saint-Germain to sign Lucas Moura, with a medical already completed this morning.

Auba happy to be following in Henry's footsteps
Gunners new boy Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been speaking to Arsenal TV upon the completion of his switch to the Emirates and the Gabon international is pleased to be following in the footsteps of one his heroes.
“I think the club has such a big history and great players like Thierry Henry," Aubameyang told Arsenal's in-house TV station.
"He's an example for us strikers. I’m really happy.”
Aubameyang became Arsenal's record signing earlier today
Crystal Palace want Vicente Guaita from Getafe. That's not news, they've been after him for a while and already agreed terms with the player, but they can't get the Madrid club to sell him at the moment and, as things stand, would have to settle for a Bosman in the summer.
There is hope, however. Sources at the Getafe end have told us that they expect president Angel Torres to budge eventually but it could go late into the evening. The Eagles still have half an eye on Sweden's Robin Olsen if no agreement can be found on Guaita.
Former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o has a new club.
Make what you will of this transfer announcement:
Edin Dzeko was linked with Chelsea earlier in the transfer window but Roma's managing director Mauro Baldissoni has put speculation surrounding the Bosnian striker's future to bed once and for all.
“If Roma had needed to sell Edin Dzeko, we could have pushed to do so," Baldissoni said.
"Instead, the club maintained a clear position. We did not panic, we did not try to accelerate negotiations. Edin is a great player and we are happy that he is staying here.”
More from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following his record-breaking transfer to Arsenal:
"I’m really happy to be here. Of course I can join Micki [Henrikh Mkhitaryan] in this team, so I’m really happy to be here in this great team," the Gabonese told Arsenal TV.
"I’m a fast player and I score goals too, like [Thierry] Henry a little bit. But as I said, I have to work a lot more."
