Manchester United are edging towards a frenetic end to the transfer window and could yet spend more than £150m to boost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s squad.

United’s latest bid for Harry Maguire is £80m, The Independent understands, with Leicester City’s response as of yet unclear, despite the thought that they are looking to hold out for £90m.

The England centre-back appears to be a crucial target for Solskjaer, despite numbers at the back, as Maguire would elevate the quality of the starting line-up.

Bruno Fernandes appeared to be heading for Old Trafford, yet O Jogo believe there has been a late bid from Tottenham to try and wrestle him down to north London.

Spurs have had a €45m offer knocked back, as Sporting hold out for €65m. Sporting president Frederico Varandas looks to drive a hard bargain and at least publicly is standing by the latter figure.

“What I know, a lot has been spoken of values, coming to the press, €55m, €62m,” Varandas said. “For that he doesn’t leave, for sure,” Varandas declared a couple of weeks ago.

“If Bruno Fernandes leaves, players with quality will come. But if Bruno leaves.”

Paulo Dybala appears to be in no hurry to move to Old Trafford and help United and Juventus’ agreement that would see Romelu Lukaku head to Turin over Milan, where Antonio Conte has been desperate to see his Inter land the Belgian.

The Mail report the Argentine is demanding £350,000 per week, which could deter United, who have grown conscious of their exorbitant wage bill.

United are looking to the future too, with French forward Issac Lihadji a target, rivalling Barcelona for Marseille’s 17-year-old super talent, according to La Provence.

While the Mail add an agreement has been struck with Monaco for 16-year-old Hannibal Mejbri.

The move could reach £9m for the Under-16 international.
