From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent understands that the Foxes have stood firm on their asking price, hoping to force United into one last improved offer.
The £80m bid eclipses the world record fee for a defender (£75m) paid for Virgil van Dijk by Liverpool.
Maguire was left out Leicester’s Twitter announcement that confirmed the squad numbers of the 2019/20 season earlier today.
On Wednesday, before the offer was submitted, Brendan Rodgers spoke to BBC and said: “The player has been first class with his attitude in his training,” the Leicester manager said. “The club hasn’t changed its stance in terms of the valuation for the player.
“As of this day, the valuation for Harry hasn’t been met that would trigger any communication with the player and the other club.”
