Liverpool are pressing ahead with their summer recruitment drive with Lazar Markovic on the verge of completing a £20m move to Anfield.
Following confirmation that Luis Suarez is joining Barcelona for £75m, Liverpool have stepped up their pursuit of various transfer targets to ensure the impact of the Uruguayan's departure isn't felt too heavily.
Reports suggest Markovic could complete his move to Anfield as early as today where he is expected to agree a four-year contract.
The 20-year-old Serbian will join having played an integral role in Benfica winning the Portuguese top flight last season.
Markovic will become Brendan Rodgers' fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Emre Can already this summer. But he probably won't be the last.
It's understood Rodgers is wanting to add more attacking options to his squad and is pursuing a £20m deal for Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony, although no official offer has yet been made for the Ivory Coast international. Belgium international Divock Origi is also expected to join Liverpool from Lille.
