The transfer deadline is fast approaching - clubs have to wrap up all their deals by 11pm BST on Friday 1 September, meaning today and tomorrow will be chaotic and potentially exciting with a host of switches still pending.

Among the biggest clubs, Man City could be set to sell Cole Palmer to Chelsea, while the latter could offload Callum Hudson-Odoi after his return from loan. Manchester United, meanwhile, are still looking for at least two more additions, with rivals Liverpool hoping to land another midfielder in Ryan Gravenberch, currently at Bayern Munich.

Brighton look set to sign Ansu Fati on loan from Barcelona, while several other Premier League teams could also conclude deals late on before the window shuts. Follow all the latest news and transfer rumour updates below; get all the latest football betting sites offers here.

Transfer news LIVE

After Chelsea experienced their worst season since the establishment of the Premier League, American owner Todd Boehly has taken significant measures to bring about change at Stamford Bridge.

This summer, the club has witnessed an astonishing number of departures already, with several key players leaving who played pivotal roles at Stamford Bridge over the past few seasons. Among those having exited are Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, and Christian Pulisic.

Liverpool continue to hunt reinforcements late in the window as they bid to replace various outgoings in key positions.

Jurgen Klopp’s club entered the transfer window with a clear emphasis on bolstering their midfield, particularly considering the confirmed departures of James Milner, Fabio Carvalho, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as well as the exit of Jordan Henderson.

The club has been proactive in pursuing this objective, and still may not be done yet in the market.

Meanwhile, one of Jurgen Klopp’s stars has been linked with a mega-money transfer to Saudi Arabia, with both Henderson and Fabinho already having moved to the Middle East.

With the transfer window close to closing, Manchester United go in search of a final few signings having already made a number of high-profile signings earlier in the window.

The latest deal saw Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund sign for an initial £64 million to add to Erik ten Hag’s options up front. Mason Mount has also arrived from Chelsea, while Andre Onana from Inter has taken over from David de Gea in goal.

With a takeover at Old Trafford still yet to be completed, there is still a degree of uncertainty over how much money Ten Hag has at his disposal, with the Glazer family still in control of the club. Manchester United finished in the top four and reached two cup finals last season, a big improvement on their competitiveness in previous campaigns - but more may still be required to challenge at the very top.

Here’s the latest news and updates concerning any transfers to and from Old Trafford:

Wolves bring in another addition

A busy afternoon for Wolves as they look to respond to the loss of Mattheus Nunes. It’s not specific central-midfield cover for the departing Portuguese international but the midlands club have agreed a deal for centre-back Santiago Bueno from Spanish side, Girona.

The Uruguay international joins on a five-year deal.

Reguilon set for Man Untied medical

A breakthrough for Man United, it would appear, in their search for a left-back replacement for the injured Luke Shaw. Having initially targeted Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, it now appears that they have agreed a loan deal for Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon according to David Ornstein.

The 26-year-old has been given permission to travel up to Old Trafford for a medical ahead of the move.

Brennan Johnson’s Tottenham transfer to go down to the wire

Speaking of Brennan Johnson, The Independent’s Miguel Delaney has the latest with the Tottenham and Nottingham Forest still in talks but, with a huge distance in terms of the fee.

There is currently a huge difference between the two positions, with the situation tempered by the fact the two figures involved are two of the hardest negotiators in the Premier League, in Daniel Levy and Evangelos Marinakis.

Forest had already set a price of £40m, although Brentford have already gone to that only to get rebuffed. Marianakis is understood to see the west London club as a direct rival.

The player himself is open to Brentford but his first preference is Spurs. Johnson wants the deal but is obviously prepared to be professional about it.

Brentford make a bid for Johan Bakayoka.

We haven’t mentioned Brentford’s name much, if at all, today, but there could be some late trasnfer action for the Bees. According to Dharmesh Sheth, Thomas Frank’s side have made a bid worth €40m for PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko.

The winger was of interest to Burnley earlier in the window, with the newly-promoted side reportedly seeing a bid rejected for the 20-year-old.

Forest weighing up a move for Sangare if Johnson’s transfer sanctioned

Plenty of transfer happenings still occurring at Forest - what’s new there? Alongside their interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi, Forest are said to be keen on PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare with a verbal offer of around £30m made by Steve Cooper’s side according to The Athletic.

No official bid has been made and it’s understood that any deal for the 25-year-old central midfielder would only occur if funds were raised by the departure of Brennan Johnson. The Welsh striker is still of interest to Tottenham but it’s unclear whether Daniel Levy will agree to pay the reported £50m figure that Forest want for their prized asset.

Palhinha bid rejected

Could this be the next Bayern-Premier League saga? The first concrete signs of a bid from the German giants for Joao Palhinha has been reported by The Evening Standard, with Fulham rejecting a £47m bid for the Portuguese central midfielder.

For now, it’s unclear if Bayern will come back in with an improved offer.

Fulham back in for Hudson-Odoi?

Potentially one in, potentially another out as another Chelsea transfer saga continues to roll on. Callum Hudson-Odoi has been made available for transfer all summer but it looks like any deal will go right down to the wire for the 22-year-old.

Forest appeared to be in the driving seat for the winger’s signature but the Evening Standard are now suggesting that Fulham are back in the hunt for the Chelsea man. Marco Silva’s side had previously failed to come to an agreement with Chelsea but have now returned to the negotiating table as they look to secure his services.
