The 2024/25 Premier League season is now underway, with clubs and managers finalising their squads ahead of what is expected to be a long campaign.

Up and down the country there have been plenty of signings to bolster squad depths and improve on the results of last season, from Ipswich and Southampton to Mikel Arteta’s title-hunting Arsenal or Arne Slot’s ‘new’ Liverpool side.

The transfer window closes at 11pm BST on Friday, 30 August, so time is running out for teams get sales and transfers over the line in the ongoing battle to balance funds against PSR regulations.

Southampton enter race for Ramsdale

Southampton are preparing to make a loan bid for Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

Ramsdale has fallen down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta’s with first-choice goalkeeper by David Raya now permanently at the Emirates.

He featured 11 times for the Gunners in 2023-24 with six of those coming in the Premier League. Arsenal’s preference is to do a permanent deal for Ramsdale - or at least a loan with an obligation to buy.

Wolves have been interested in Ramsdale too but prefer a loan deal with an option to buy.

Van den Berg set for Brentford medical

Liverpool’s Sepp van den Berg is set to undergo a medical with Brentford this evening.

He has travelled to west London and will hold further talks with the club at the training ground. Bayer Leverkusen remain interested and this deal isn’t over the line yet.

Sky Sports News have revealed that both clubs agreed a £25m deal with Liverpool to sign the centre-back.

Erik ten Hag has called for patience as Manchester United keep “working hard” in their search for a fifth summer signing.

United have been interested in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte for weeks but there has remained a significant gap in the two clubs’ valuations of the Uruguay international.

The FA Cup winners have spent around £150m this summer but could enter the last week of the transfer window without bolstering their midfield.

Brazilian police close investigation over abuse claims against Manchester United winger Antony

A Brazilian police investigation into Manchester United player Antony has been closed, according to a report from the BBC.

The 24-year-old denied wrongdoing after allegations of domestic abuse and is still under investigation from Greater Manchester Police.

The BBC claim prosecutors in Brazil could still decide to investigate independently, although Antony has not been arrested or charged.

Dyche on Trippier

Kieran Trippier has today been linked with a move away from Newcastle with Everton being one of the more likely destinations for the 33-year-old.

Everton boss Sean Dyche jokingly addressed the speculation saying: “He’s one of many names that has come up here. As if by magic, his name comes up when we don’t have a right-back available”.

Broja completes medical with Ipswich

Chelsea striker Armando Broja has completed a medical at with Ipswich ahead of his probable move to Portman Road. The move is a loan with the obligation to buy if Ipswich avoid relegation this season.

The current price for Broja is £30m which Ipswich will pay if they remain in the top flight.

Arsenal reach agreement over Mikel Merino

Arsenal have reached an agreement with Real Sociedad to sign Mikel Merino.

The dela will see the Gunners pay €33m (£28.4m) alongside €5m in variables to secure the services of the midfielder, who is expected to sign a four-year contract plus a club option of a further year after undergoing a medical.

The Athletic reports that the north London club had stepped up their efforts to sign the 28-year-old, who has one year remaining on his current contract.

Napoli agree to sign Billy Gilmour

Serie A side Napoli have agreed a deal worth around €18m (£15.3m) for Billy Gilmour, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer guru announced on X that the Brighton and Scotland midfielder will be heading to Italy for a medical assessment which should take place sometime next week.

DONE DEAL! Sander Berge signs for Fulham

Fulham have landed their Joao Palhinha replacement! A £25m fee has seen them sign Sander Berge from Burnley, the midfielder joining the Cottagers hoping to make it third time lucky.

He has been relegated with both the Clarets and Sheffield United already, so will aim for survival at least this time around.

The Norwegian was on the radar of Man United too, but Fulham have landed him for 20m initially, another five on add-ons and with a five-year contract signed.
