Tottenham face Liverpool in the Premier League as Jurgen Klopp’s in-form Reds face their toughest test of the season at Ange Postecoglou’s resurgent Spurs.
Both sides are unbeaten so far in the Premier League, with Liverpool winning five of their opening six fixtures to lead the challenge to Manchester City in the early standings. But Tottenham are only two points behind after battling back to a thrilling draw at rivals Arsenal last weekend, as James Maddison and Son Heung-min starred in the comeback.
Now Postecoglou’s side face a Liverpool team who are also reborn from last campaign with a new-look midfield. Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning strike helped the Reds to their seventh win in a row in all competitions in midweek, and there will be talk of Klopp’s side fighting for the title should they beat Spurs for the first time this season.

86’ – Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
Yellow Card
Andy Robertson is booked as we approach the end of the 90.
Bissouma is booked shortly after for a little elbow on Endo. Spurs look ike they’re running out of ideas to be honest, while Liverpool have a free-kick that is collected by Vicario.
82’ – Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
Substitution
Spurs’s turn to make a couple of changes, with Udogie and Sarr making way for Oliver Skipp and Ben Davies.
80’ – Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
Substitution
Spurs aren’t dominating quite how you’d expect, despite the difference in numbers.
Szoboszlai tries a trademark long shot but it’s tame. Spurs break and win a corner, but the routine is poor.
They’re very much relying on someone – likely Maddison – to do something special. You wonder if Postecoglou regrets taking off Son.
Ryan Gravenberch comes on for Mac Allister.
72’ – Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
Substitutions
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool have all nine men behind the ball now, with all of them in their own box at one point.
Klopp decides to make a triple change, with Endo, Konate and Alexander-Arnold coming on for Diaz, Gomez and Salah.
Looks like a 5-3 formation for Liverpool, with Alexander-Arnold taking up a wing-back position on the right.
68’ - RED CARD! Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
Incredible. Or rather, incredibly naive.
Jota was booked about a minute ago, yet straight after Son comes off he slides in on Udogie and catches his left leg.
It’s an obvious second yellow and Liverpool are down to NINE MEN.
67’ – Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
Substitution
Surprisingly, Heung-Min Son is coming off. He is replaced by Manor Solomon, with Richarlison moving central.
Just before the sub, Jota was booked for a cynical challenge.
64’ – Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
Maddison has easily been man of the match so far, and he wins a free-kick in a decent position after being caught by Matip.
It is poorly worked and Liverpool break with Salah, but he ends up fouling Bissouma who had covered well. He’s been everywhere too.
60’ – Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
Disallowed goal!
Son has the ball in the net again with a goal that was almost a carbon copy of the first (though Maddison’s ball for this one was even more impressive).
It is ruled out for offside though, as Richarlison had gone a second too early.
58’ – Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
Spurs break quickly with Son receiving the ball on the wing. He plays in Udogie but Robertson does extremely well to cover as last man.
Spurs keep the ball and work it to Sarr, whose shot is straight at Alisson.
56’ – Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool
A slight lull in activity as Spurs continue to have more of the ball.
They’ve had a couple of half-chances, while Liverpool have remained a threat on the break courtesy of Mo Salah.
