Conte: "We are doing a good job" in UCL race

Harry Kane struck twice as Tottenham thrashed 10-man Arsenal 3-0 following Rob Holding’s red card to boost their hopes of a top-four finish.

Antonio Conte’s side have now closed the gap on the Gunners in the Premier League to just a point with two games remaining.

Cedric Soares’ clumsy challenge on Son Heung-min handed Spurs an early gift in the shape of a penalty, with Kane calmly dispatching it into the bottom right corner.

And Holding’s elbow to Son earned him a second yellow and an early bath, with Rodrigo Bentancur’s flick-on at a corner moments later allowing Kane to crouch low and head in a second.

Kane turned provider after the restart, dragging Gabriel Magalhaes inside the box with Son stabbing home the loose ball to pull within one of Mohamed Salah in the race for the golden boot.

Reaction from Harry Kane

A delighted Harry Kane gave his post-match reaction and says that Tottenham’s focus is to keep the pressure on Arsenal and hope to challenge for the top four. He said:

“I’m proud of the boys. If they won they would have secured the Champions League so there was pressure on us in front of our home fans but we delivered well. We started on the front foot, created the chances and controlled it in the second half.

“Whenever you win a derby it’s always nice. Two more games to go. We need to focus on them now but it was a special night here.

“I think so [it being the best atmosphere at that stadium]. You could feel the aniticipation building up to the game and we knew we had to deliver.

“We still have two games to go and we have put the pressure on them. We have to focus on ourselves. We play early on Sunday so we need to get a result and see what happens.

“We can only control our games. We did our job tonight. We won’t get ahead of ourselves. Tonight was special but our ultimate goal is to get fourth place and we still have work to do.”

Son Heung-Min speaking to Sky Sports

Tottenham goalscorer, Son Heung-Min, spoke to Sky Sports after the match saying:

“It’s always good to win but especially this derby. It means a lot. We can close the gap. This game really, really feels nice.

“Obviously I want to play always but what can I say? I have to accept it. We have a game on Sunday so that’s why. I am not angry just disappointed. I have to move on. I wanted to keep playing. We have an important game so I need to be ready, recover well and be fresh again.

“I was running into the space but [Rob Holding] broke the run and whether the ball is coming or not it was a dangerous challenge for me. It was a clear foul for me.”

Tottenham stay in top-four hunt as 10-man Arsenal crumple to north London derby defeat

It’s still Arsenal by a nose, just, but that’s after they lost their heads. Tottenham Hotspur might have got the benefit of some decisions, but they also took impressive advantage of Arsenal’s chaotic response to all of that.

Antonio Conte’s side were consequently worthy winners on the night, and full value for this emphatic 3-0 victory. The Italian roused his team to another big win in another big game. It has been the main marker of his time so far. Whether Spurs are actually a better team, and a better bet for top four, remains to be seen.

It’s entirely possible that just reveals the difference between the sides on nights like this. Spurs have one of the best managers in world football, as well as some canny and experienced players in their prime - particularly the star scorers Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min - while Mikel Arteta still has such a callow team.
