Saints remain bottom of the table despite an upturn in performance level under Ruben Selles; defeat last time out means they are still two points from safety but it’s so tight at the bottom that a win could see them up into 16th.
As for Spurs, three wins in their last four despite uneven performances mean they sit fourth, a point ahead of Newcastle who clinched a win on Friday night. Antonio Conte remains under pressure for a fairly poor season overall, but clinching a top-four finish remains the objective.

An absolutely insane game at St. Mary’s somehow ends with nothing to separate the two sides, as Southampton and Tottenham play out a rollercoaster 3-3 draw. Four injuries in the first half looked to kill any momentum or rhythm in the match but Porro’s sublime finish deep in first-half injury time gave us a sight at what was to come. The hosts came out of the interval flying and managed to equalise after less than a minute, only to concede twice more in the ensuing half hour. Ex-Arsenal forward Walcott gave Saints something to build from and the job would be complete in the 92nd minute, when Sarr’s kick on Maitland-Niles gave Ward-Prowse the chance to put his side level from the spot; an opportunity the set-piece specialist took with aplomb. Both coaches will need to decompress after that spectacle, which lasted until almost the 100th minute.

WHAT A CHANCE! Spurs have the opportunity to take the lead with the last kick of the game but Lenglet can only nod Perisic’s cross wide of Bazunu’s goal from close range!
