It's not all about the action at the top though with Norwich, Watford and Brentford promoted to the top tier for 2020/21 and hoping to hold their own against the best English football has to offer and avoid the drop.

Hasenhuttl has made a point of bemoaning Newcastle's ability to call on new signings for this match, which was originally set for the start of January before the big-spending Magpies secured five new recruits. The Saints coach may not be best impressed then that four of the five start here, including full debutant Guimaraes, but Joelinton is a notable absence in the midfield due to injury. Allan Saint-Maximin, who is ill, also cannot even make the bench.

There are only two changes to the Saints team thrashed at Villa, but they are significant changes. Salisu returns from injury at the heart of the defence, having been so badly missed. Walker-Peters is in for Perraud, who he replaced in the second half at Villa Park.
