Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Marko Arnautovic marked his return to West Ham's team by getting injured and leaving Molineux on crutches after a 3-0 loss at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Arnautovic missed West Ham's last two games after he was tempted to accept a lucrative offer from a Chinese club. On Friday, he said he was staying at the London club and signed a new contract.
He was recalled by West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini but didn't finish the match after hobbling off in the 77th minute with a leg injury following a tackle from Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves. He was wearing a protective boot as he left the stadium.
Raul Jimenez's late double inspired Wolves to an ultimately comfortable victory after West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski threatened to frustrate the hosts.
Romain Saiss opened the scoring with a header from a corner in the 66th, before Jimenez took his tally to 12 goals for the season with strikes in the 80th and 86th minutes.
Wolves climbed to seventh place in the Premier League. West Ham lost three days after exiting the FA Cup at the hands of third-tier struggler AFC Wimbledon.

That Sergio Aguero opener has been confirmed as 24 seconds into the game. The fastest goal of the Premier League season so far.
Fulham 0-2 Brighton, 27 minutes
An awful start for Fulham, and Claudio Ranieri has gone back to the bag for a different club. Tom Cairney replaces Tim Ream in a tactical substitution.
Can Cairney get Fulham back in it?
Newcastle 0-1 Manchester City, 13 minutes
A poor giveaway from Danilo allows Ayoze Perez to move into the space vacated by the Brazilian, but the Newcastle striker's finish is not of the quality desired. It trickles past the far post and Ederson is content to watch it roll by.
First time on the touchline at Huddersfield for Jan Siewert, but the German finds his team a goal down to Everton early on.
Newcastle 0-1 Manchester City, 16 minutes
Sergio Aguero has the ball in the back of the net again, but the referee isn't ready and has booked Kevin De Bruyne!
Paul Tierney has told De Bruyne to wait to take a free kick but the Belgian has instead curled delectably into the box for Aguero to turn home.
An odd one. Tierney whistles swiftly and books De Bruyne. The Manchester City players are perplexed.
Wolves 0-0 West Ham, 36 minutes
Wolves are another team to fall foul of a disallowed goal, Leander Dendoncker heading home after Raul Jimenez struck the crossbar, but the Mexican striker was offside.
Fulham 0-2 Brighton, 38 minutes
The change has sparked Fulham to life.
Andre Schurrle meets a Ryan Babel cross brilliantly and his effort looks destined for goal, but Shane Duffy somehow manages to hook away a clearance from the line to keep it out.
Superb defending.
Manchester United 0-0 Burnley, 24 minutes
Burnley are battling away at Old Trafford, and they have Phil Barnsley to thank for keeping it goalless.
The experienced full back recovers magnificently with Juan Mata readying himself for a shot at goal from close range.
Fulham 0-2 Brighton, 43 minutes
All action at Craven Cottage!
Davy Propper rifles one against the topside of the crossbar from 25 yards.
