From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Felipe Anderson's early strike, a Victor Lindelof own-goal and Marko Arnautovic's finish left United manager Jose Mourinho increasingly feeling the heat.
The drama at Old Trafford is rapidly turning into a crisis as United equalled their worst start to a Premier League season with just 10 points from their opening seven matches.

The goal
Chelsea put together a nice move and Kovacic, who is having a good game, slipped the ball to Hazard inside the left channel. He charged towards goal and cut a left-footed shot across Alisson and into the far corner. There's a feeling that Alisson could have done a little better, but it was also a brilliant finish from the Belgian wizard.
We're off!
Liverpool get the second half underway! Can Liverpool find a way back?
47: Liverpool fans behind the goals and the players want a penalty for handball after Alexander-Arnold's, but nothing is given.
Chelsea break and work the ball to Kovacic and he has a shot blocked by Van Dijk.
53: The first half started with ferocious pace, so it's little surprise that this half is something of a slow burner at the moment. Neither side are able to keep possession for too long or string together anything meaningful.
58: Kepa denies Mane
Mane collects the ball with his back to goal, turns and from close range gets a low shot away. It's heading for the corner but Kepa gets down with immense speed and turns it behind.
From the corner it falls to Salah, who wins another one with a deflected shot.
59: Chelsea clear and set Willian clear on the break. He is racing away but is closed down by Gomez and Van Dijk.
63: Hazard is one-on-one but his shot is saved!
Kante takes a quick free kick and Hazard is away. He is running towards goal from the left and it looks like a simple finish beyond Alisson is on the cards, but the goalkeeper saves.
