Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

West Ham will be looking to take advantage of any slip-up from Manchester City to break into the top four of the Premier League and strengthen their hopes of moving into the Olympic Stadium next season with Champions League football under their belts, while Crysal Palace are in real danger of being dragged into the relegation scrap.

  • Sam Byram and James Collins remain injured for West Ham
  • Emmaniel Adebayor and Yohan Cabaye ruled out
  • Connor Wickham, James McArthur and Marouane Chamakh all absent

Teams:

West Ham: Adrian; Antonio, Reid, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Lanzini, Noble, Kouyate, Payet; Emenike Sakho.

Subs: Randolph, Song, Tomkins, Carroll, Valencia, Obiang, Moses.

Crystal Palace: Hennessey; Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare; Zaha, Puncheon, Jedinak, Ledley, Sako; Bolasie.

Aston Villa 0 Chelsea 1: Chelsea launch a lovely counter attack that ends when Kenedy's attempts to buy a cheap free kick are turned down. Then Ayew comes close of Villa, but his placed effort is just wide of the far post. Five minutes or so left in the half.

Aston Villa 0 Chelsea 1: Ooof, Loftus-Cheek comes close to a second, nearly curling a low shot into the corner of the net, but it's just wide.
