From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

But confidence at the club is high after their impressive 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.
Mauricio Pochettino has brought Kieran Trippier and Moussa Sissoko into his starting line-up, while Dele Alli returns after sitting out one match of his three match European ban.
Swansea make one change from the team that lost to Newcastle last time out.

18 mins: Nice football from Spurs as Son goes one-two crazy. Coming in on the left-wing, he exchanges passes with Eric Dier and then Dele Alli as he makes inroads through the Swansea midfield. The subsequent shot isn't as impressive, travelling well wide of the Swansea goal.
22 mins: Another Tottenham effort troubles the statisticians logging the game but not the Swansea goalkeeper. Eric Dier thumps a free-kick high over the crossbar.
25 mins: A promising Swansea break sees Tammy Abraham escape from Davinson Sanchez on the right wing and look for support in the middle. That arrives in the form of one-time Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll, arriving on the edge of the box. Abraham tries to find his teammate, but the low pass doesn't quite have the pace to make its target and Jan Vertonghen is able to scramble away.
30 mins: Tammy Abraham and Toby Alderweireld is proving to be an individual battle that is worth watching - which is more than can be said about the game itself so far. The young striker is undeniably giving away some weight to his opponent, but is giving as good as he gets when it comes to battling for possession. The Belgian will know that he's been in a contest throughout this first half.
35 mins: Who had 35 minutes?! If so, you're the winner of this weekend's sweepstake sponsored by BT Sport. It's taken Ian Darke and his co-commentator that long to mention The Glenn Hoddle Academy, this time in relation to Swansea City midfielder Sam Clucas.
42 mins: Little is happening other than Mike Dean's whistle getting a good workout. The referee has been blowing up for a series of infringements in midfield that are preventing the game from reaching any real flow.
43 mins: Swansea chance! The visitors are awarded a fortuitous corner on the right after a visiting player sends the ball out of play, and almost add insult to injury with a goal. Mike van der Hoorn rises highest to Carroll's corner, but the unmarked Dutchman fails to his the target.
SECOND HALF KICK-OFF: There are no changes on either side as the action restarts at Wembley. After their Champions League success in midweek. Tottenham have struggled on their return to domestic matters - so far. Is the stage set for one of their substitutes to come off the bench to make the difference? Former Swansea striker Fernando Llorente perhaps? Or will the Swans find a winner themselves to make it a famous night at the home of football?
