From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Southampton take on Chelsea needing a win to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone.
But they will host the league champions without defender Jack Stephens, who begins a three-game ban for lashing out at Jack Wilshere last week. Steven Davis is also out with an Achilles problem.
Meanwhile Chelsea remain without defenders David Luiz and Ethan Ampadu, but Ross Barkley is available.

Half-time - Southampton 1-0 Chelsea
The referee brings an end to proceedings at St Mary's and Saints deservedly lead at the break through Dusan Tadic's 21st-minute strike.
46' - We are back underway on the South Coast!
Eden Hazard is challenged by Shane Long
51' - Not much to report on from the opening stages of this second half. Chelsea haven't really improved since the break and Saints are still good value for their lead.
Olivier Giroud is warming up for Chelsea and you'd expect him to replace Alvaro Morata if the Spaniard doesn't up his game over the next 10 minutes or so. He's been really poor so far today.
54' - Great save!
Shane Long almost doubles Southampton's lead after a swift counter-attack but his scuffed, looped effort is tipped over the crossbar by the diving Thibaut Courtois.
GOAL! Southampton 2-0 Chelsea (Bednarek, 60)
Huge, huge goal.
Saints double their lead and it's Jan Bednarek with the goal as he slots home at the far post from James Ward-Prowse's wicked delivery!
62' - Pedro and Olivier Giroud replace Davide Zappacosta and Alvaro Morata for Chelsea.
64' - Chelsea's Eden Hazard and Southampton's Ryan Bertrand both go into the referee's book.
