From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Manchester City remain top of the Premier League after thrashing West Bromwich Albion 4-0, hours after Arsenal briefly overtook them with a 4-1 win at Sunderland. Manchester United were left frustrated though as Ander Herrera was sent-off in the 0-0 draw with Burnley, while Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw by reigning champions Leicester City. Liverpool saw off Crystal Palace 4-2 in the final game of the day to join City and Arsenal at the top of the table. Re-live the action here.

So, the two teams at opposite ends of the country and opposite ends of the table start out Premier League weekend.

Arsenal have been on a run of fine form lately, whereas it is The Black Cats worst ever start to a top flight season. Only a win here today for Moyes's men would hoist them off the bottom spot, so they will be battling for safety this afternoon.

The visitors are unbeaten against Sunderland in the last 13 meetings, but this is the Premier League and as we know - anything can happen.

Stay tuned, you won't want to miss this...

Arsenal fans will be irritated by the the news that their current wonder-man, Theo Walcott, is out due to injury.

But, this is Arsenal, they should know to expect it by now...
