From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

After a two-week break, the Premier League returns in all its glory. With a full programme on offer across the weekend, there’s eight games to get stuck in today.

The early game saw Liverpool fight from behind to see off an impressive Crystal Palace as Mohamed Salah continued his incredible goalscoring run this season, sealing a 2-1 victory that also saw Sadio Mane on target.

Manchester United, Newcastle and West Ham all take to the field at 3pm against Swansea, Huddersfield and Southampton respectively, while Brighton host Leicester and Watford entertain Bournemouth, and basement side West Brom will attempt to end their dismal form against Burnley at the Hawthorns.

Everton vs Manchester City is this evening’s 5.30pm game, with Pep Guardiola’s men looking to avoid the humiliation they suffered at Goodison Park in this fixture last season.

56' - Smart stop.

Jordan Pickford does well to readjust his positioning and tip the ball behind for a corner after Fernandinho's long-range effort had deflected off Dominic Calvert-Lewin and towards the other side of his goal.

57' - Tom Davies replaces Wayne Rooney for Everton.

GOAL! Everton 1-3 Manchester City (Bolasie, 63)

Yannick Bolasie pulls a goal back for the visitors as his 20-yard effort hits the inside of both posts before nestling in Ederson's net!

Lovely strike - and Bolasie's first since 2016. He did, of course, miss the majority of Everton's matches in 2017 with a serious knee injury.

64' - Bernardo Silva replaces Raheem Sterling for City.

Liam Corless31 March 2018 18:52

66' - Cenk Tosun rises above Kyle Walker to meet Leighton Baines' corner but the striker's header flies wide of Ederson's near post.

Everton have the wind in their sails at the moment.

Liam Corless31 March 2018 18:54

71' - Leroy Sane tries his luck from the edge of the area with his unfavoured right foot but the ball sails well over the crossbar.

Liam Corless31 March 2018 18:59

75' - Close!

Fernandinho grazes the crossbar with a curling shot from distance.

Jordan Pickford was getting nowhere near that!

Liam Corless31 March 2018 19:03

77' - Ilkay Gundogan replaces Kevin De Bruyne for City.

Liam Corless31 March 2018 19:05

79' - Oumar Niasse replaces Cenk Tosun for Everton.

Can the hosts grab another goal and ensure a nervy finish to the match or will City see out the final 10 minutes without a hitch?

Liam Corless31 March 2018 19:07

83' - City are just playing keep-ball now and Everton's players can't get anywhere near them.

Perhaps the referee should blow his whistle now so we can all go home early! Y'know, an Easter treat?
