From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Pre-match quotes from Everton boss Sam Allardyce
"It looks like a back three today with Laporte coming in. They're absolutely quality aren't they?
"We've got to do our best to stop them. It's a big challenge and I think the objective of the exercise is to defend well, of course. Possession will be limited but we cannot waste it.
"Anything less than our best today, I think will be a struggle."

Pre-match quotes from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola
On how City have improved since their last trip to Goodison Park (a 4-0 loss last season): "We lost, they were so clinical. We were not good enough but it was a long time ago. Today is another game so it makes no sense to compare today with what happened a long, long time ago.
"We have improved this season, we cannot deny that."
The players are out on the pitch at Goodison Park and kick-off is just moments away!
GOAL! Everton 0-1 Manchester City (Sane, 4)
That's a wonderful goal.
David Silva crosses the ball in from the left touchline and Leroy Sane is waiting at the far post to volley a sweet strike into the bottom corner.
8' - As Sam Allardyce predicted pre-match, his team are seeing very little of the ball. As usual City are pressing with real intensity and Everton are really struggling to keep hold of the ball at the moment.
12' - Huge chance for Everton!
Dominic Calvert-Lewin's cross finds Yannick Bolasie in the box but the Everton winger heads over the bar from just six yards out!
He really should've scored there.
GOAL! Everton 0-2 Manchester City (Gabriel Jesus, 13)
Game over?
Gabriel Jesus rounds off a swift City counter-attack as he heads Kevin De Bruyne's cross home from close range!
Super goal.
